Stalking is a known pre-cursor to murder, it’s not harmless or romantic. Jesse Baird was being stalked by his ex partner leading up to his alleged murder.

Also, Domestic Violence is not a “crime of passion”! It’s disgusting and reckless for the NSW Police to use this language when reporting on the murders of 2 innocent men who simply went about their lives and started a relationship together.

Domestic Violence is a hideous crime of abuse, control, revenge, ego, hatred. It is never about passion, stop saying it is.

We are less than 6weeks into 2024. Less than 40days and already 8 women have been killed in Australia after yet another woman was found dead this morning in Tweed Heads.

All of them were killed by men and all but one of them were killed by men known to them.

None of them gave consent to be killed.

This is not ok!
Enough is enough!..

News overnight that a 76th woman was killed by her husband in SA after he “allegedly” ran her over.

It’s not ok, Enough is Enough 🚫💔

Throwback to the most beautiful and peaceful sunrise yesterday.
What a day it was and has been today.

Thank you so much for all the love and support from everyone it’s been overwhelming and amazing.

To all the people who shared the message, started their own walks, came down to walk with me, donated money or time, contacted media, and most importantly kept me going through the day. It’s been a lot and I will share more details tomorrow.

To everyone who has messaged and called, thank you and I will get back to you over the coming days.

For now, I am staying very still, walking very little but wishing a Happy New Year for everyone.

I will be starting out at 4am tomorrow morning to walk 75 laps of Bondi Beach in honour of the women killed in Australia this year.

Of these women, 47 were killed in their own home.🏠
61 women were killed by people known to them. 💔
62 women were killed by men. 👨🏼‍🦰👨🏼👨🏽👨🏻👨🏽‍🦳
Three were killed in their workplace.
Three were killed in aged care facilities. 🏥

These statistics are not ok!

Violence exists in silence.

It festers and thrives behind closed doors designed to keep women safe. By walking in a public place my aim is to bring the conversation out of the darkness and into safer spaces. To give people a place to connect, to support and to feel supported. Most importantly to shine a light on a hideous crime that needs to stop.

It happens every week, every year and Enough is Enough!

If you can spare some time tomorrow to join me on the walk, it would be great to see you there. Violence against women isn’t a women’s problem, it’s a community issue and together we can make a change. 🙌🏽
