Resistance to doing the work?
Iâve just arrived home, fresh from 23 days of Panchakarma (PK) in India. Panchakarma is an intense ayurvedic cleanse involving daily oil massages (abhyangas), bastis (enemas) a diet of kitcheri (dahl and rice dish), ayurvedic herbs and all sorts of other ayurvedic protocols.
That might all sound wonderful, and thereâs no doubt it is a blessing, but on arrival at the Raju Family panchakarma clinic I experienced full resistance as the reality of kitcheri for every meal, and a Groundhog daily routine hit home. I found myself asking âwhy am I checking into a kind of prison when I could be on holiday?!â I couldnât imagine ever enjoying the process and was counting down the days to my release.
Then, as often happens on PK, the wave of stress release and resistance subsided and was replaced by a peaceful acceptance. The second half was borderline enjoyable. Still Iâd be lying if I said itâs not great to be back and enjoying some home comforts!
I handed the PK baton over to so sheâll be there for the next month and will be back in Bondi all shiny and new in mid Feb. Our Sunday afternoon group meditations will start up again on her return.
I look forward to catching up with you soon, maybe at group med tomorrow evening.
With love and Jai Guru Deva,
Matt
