Seven days a week, we offer a range of general practitioner and travel clinic services to the local community, providing holistic, patient-centered healthcare. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

This month, we’re highlighting the importance of breast awareness.

Breast awareness means getting to know how your breasts normally look and feel, so you can notice any changes early. You can do this in the shower, while applying lotion, or in front of the mirror - just make it a regular habit.

Breast cancer in Australia:

Every year, over 21,000 people (including around 200 men) are diagnosed with breast cancer.

58 people every day receive this diagnosis.

Sadly, more than 3,300 people (including 33 men) lose their lives to breast cancer each year.

That’s someone’s mother, sister, friend, or family member whose life has been cut short by this disease.

The good news is the five-year survival rate has risen from 76% to 92% since 1994 thanks to ongoing research. But progress is still needed.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation’s goal is ambitious yet vital: Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

💗 This October, take time to check, share and spread awareness.

Early detection saves lives.

Today is World Heart Day - a reminder to look after your heart health and make positive lifestyle choices that reduce your risk of heart disease, the leading cause of death worldwide.

🫀 Simple steps for a healthier heart:

* Stay active - aim for at least 30 minutes of movement most days

* Eat a balanced diet rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains and lean proteins

* Avoid smoking and limit alcohol

* Manage stress with relaxation, sleep and self-care

* Get regular check-ups with your doctor, especially if you have risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, or family history
