If you’re a parent of a teenage boy, you’ll likely recognise this…

That sense that something is shifting.

He’s not a child anymore — but he’s not quite a young man yet.

There are moments of independence, strength and insight…
And also moments of withdrawal, frustration, uncertainty.

You might find yourself wondering:

Am I doing enough to support him?
Is he okay?
Who is he becoming?

At Nunyara Farm, we’ve had many of these conversations with parents over time.

And what we hear, again and again, is this:

There is a real need for spaces where boys can be challenged, supported, and guided — not just academically, but personally.

Grounded was created with this in mind.

A three-day, land-based retreat for boys in Years 9–10, designed to support them in building:

• self-awareness
• resilience
• responsibility
• connection — to themselves, to others, and to the natural world

Through practical challenges, shared experience, and time away from everyday pressures, boys are given the opportunity to step back, reset, and begin to understand themselves in a different way.

Not through pressure.
Not through performance.
But through experience.

If this resonates with you, we invite you to learn more.

What is Grounded?

Grounded is a three-day, land-based retreat for boys in Years 9–10.

It has been created in response to a growing need — from parents, educators and community — for experiences that support young men through this important stage of life.

This is not a boot camp.
It is not therapy.
It is not about performance.

Grounded is about building:

• self-awareness
• resilience
• responsibility
• connection to land and community

Over three days, participants will engage in:

• practical challenges
• land-based activities
• reflective practices
• meaningful contribution

All held within a supportive, structured environment.

The intention is simple — to offer boys a space to step away from noise and pressure, and begin to understand what it means to stand steady, take responsibility, and grow into themselves.

FREE event - Our Eucalypt Home: A Community Planting Day.

🌿 Why This Matters (And Why You’re Invited)

We know something like this can be misunderstood.

Yes, we are planting on our property.
But this isn’t about “free labour.”

It’s about shared stewardship.

Eucalypts don’t belong to one fence line.
They support whole ecosystems. Wildlife moves across properties. Pollinators travel. Water flows. Seed disperses. What grows here strengthens the wider landscape we all share.

When we plant habitat corridors and shelter belts at Nunyara, we are contributing to regional biodiversity, soil stability and ecological resilience — outcomes that extend far beyond our boundary.

More than that, this day is about connection.

It’s about placing your hands in the soil.
It’s about children remembering the tree they planted.
It’s about knowing you have played a small, real part in restoring something meaningful.

Community planting days aren’t transactional.
They are relational.

You’re not coming to work for us.
You’re coming to grow something that belongs to all of us.

If this resonates, we would love to have you with us on 28 March.

Let’s tend our eucalypt home, together. 🌿
We are grateful for the support and encouragement of Sustainable Braidwood and Upper Shoalhaven Landcare group.

Please join us THIS SATURDAY 28 MARCH for our FREE Community Tree Planting for National Eucalypt Day.

Somewhere, right now, good things are happening.

Quiet acts of kindness.
New beginnings.
People choosing hope, even when it’s hard.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the noise of the world… but goodness hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s still here — in the small moments, the gentle gestures, the way we show up for each other.

Hold onto that.
Nurture it.
Be part of it.

What’s one good thing you’ve noticed today? Share it below and let’s remind each other 🌿

Hope is a powerful thing 🤍

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday.

One Week Until We Plant Together 🌱

Next Saturday, 28 March this hillside will hold more life.
Together, we’ll celebrate National Eucalypt Day by planting locally native seedlings, nurturing habitat for wildlife, and gathering in the simple joy of caring for the land we share.

No experience needed. Just sturdy shoes, willing hands, and a heart for community and Nature.

The kettle will be on. There is food to be shared. The seedlings will be waiting.

Each tree planted is a quiet act of hope.

Each pair of hands in the soil is a reminder that care is contagious.

We would love to see you here.

Friday reflections…

Sitting here with the week in the rear-view mirror and feeling quietly grateful — it’s been a pretty awesome one.

Full days, good conversations, meaningful work and moments of unexpected beauty along the way.

Now it’s time to slow the pace a little.
To sit quietly.
To be still.
To take a breath before the weekend begins.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply pause long enough to notice how far we’ve come.

Wishing everyone a gentle moment of reflection as the week draws to a close.

What’s been a highlight of your week? ✨

✨ Have you heard of “glimmers”?

This morning at Nunyara Farm, while out walking with Lucy and Charlie, I noticed a perfectly formed spider web stretched between two branches — every delicate thread dotted with tiny droplets of morning dew, sparkling in the sunshine.

It stopped me in my tracks.

Moments like these are sometimes called glimmers — small, quiet things that catch our attention and bring a flicker of calm, joy, or wonder.

They’re easy to miss in the rush of the day.
But when we notice them — birdsong, warm sunshine, a smile, fresh morning air, or a spider web shining like a necklace of diamonds — they gently remind our nervous system that all is well.

Today, perhaps take a moment to look for your glimmers.

✨ What glimmers have you noticed this morning?

Something we’ve been quietly working on behind the scenes at Nunyara Farm…
Over the past months we’ve had many conversations with parents, educators and community members about the challenges young men are navigating today — and the growing need for experiences that support resilience, responsibility and self-awareness.
We’ve listened carefully.
After much deep thinking, consultation and program development, we’re preparing to launch something we believe will be very special.
