Key NDIS Reforms in 2025

1. Introduction of Impairment Notices

Effective from January 1, 2025, the NDIS has implemented impairment notices. These notices provide clarity on eligibility criteria, ensuring that participants who meet access requirements or are transitioning to new frameworks are adequately informed about their status within the scheme.

2. Updated Claims and Payments Framework

Starting October 3, 2025, a new claims and payments framework mandates that providers submit claims within two years of delivering support. To facilitate a smooth transition, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) will honor all claims for supports provided before October 3, 2024, during the first 12 months of implementation.

3. Standardization of Plan Funding Periods

All NDIS plans initiated from October 3, 2024, will have a standardized 12-month funding period. However, starting in 2025, participants may be granted shorter funding periods tailored to their specific circumstances, allowing for more personalized support planning.

Effective February 1, 2025, the NDIS has revised funding for certain therapies, including Art and Music Therapy. Group sessions continue to be billed at the current rate for four or more participants.
