A full skin check is recommended every 12 months for most adults living in Queensland, but do you know what to look out for on your skin between checks?
A handy acronym to help you remember is SCAN your skin. Dr Kylie explains here in more detail what to look for:
S - soreness of a spot or a spot that’s not healing or keeps bleeding
C - changing. Any spot on your skin that is changing in size, shape, colour or texture is worthwhile us having a look.
A - abnormal. Any spot that just doesn’t look right or stands out among the surrounding skin and other spots. We often call this the ‘ugly duckling’ sign
N - new. A spot, particularly a new mole would definitely be something we’d want to check, particularly if it is changing or growing quickly.
If you notice any of these, don’t wait for your next scheduled skin check! Book a spot check’ with us so we can give you our expert opinion and work out a good plan of action 😃
