In 2020, with a teeny tiny newborn in my arms, I sat through my instructor training to officially qualify as a Trained Teacher in Natural Fertility Education.

In a strange, new world of online Telehealth and the growing interest in non-hormonal contraception and natural fertility, I found this community that were looking for evidence-based care and I’ve had the privilege of walking with many families, seeing them welcome their babies and journeying with women to understand and feel empowered in their own bodies and cycles over the past 5 years.

Through my own 3rd hypermeisis pregnancy and postpartum and breastfeeding journey, I have still been coaching and partnering with women, but have had to scale my presence back online to fit everything in.

Many things have changed in my life the past 5 years, own family grew, we moved to our little “farm” and our village looks different too.

I have loved The Natural Fertility Collective - but with everything on my plate, including returning to study and homeschooling my oldest son - I’ve made the decision to press pause on new clients for the foreseeable future.

As of 30 June 2025 - my online courses will cease to be available and I will be taking a break from hosting my website. My Instagram will remain available as a resource for women to read and browse while I am on sabbatical from the business in this season.

If you are a client that has an outstanding appointment credited to your account, or you have any questions at all please email me naturalfertilitycollective@gmail.com to organise a consultation or to discuss your questions.

Very honoured to have been a guest of - Roger is a wealth of knowledge for shift workers everywhere and it was a privilege to add my two cents on women’s’ health, shift work, cycle health and even trying to conceive while shift working.

Mothers’ Day - my first with three children, my sixth as a mother.

I reflect every day on how blessed I am to have them in my arms.

We spent my sixth Mother’s Day with the spicy cough in my house. Fortunately, the nurse’s immune system has kept me strong for now.

Today is the day AFTER Mother’s Day, it’s another day to honour this gift in the ordinary moments.

It’s a day where my reflections turn to those of you who had a hard day yesterday. It’s a day where my thoughts turn to those of you that I am walking with now on your journeys - it’s a day where I hold space for you.

Love to you and yours.

✨This is your sign to start taking your period seriously ✨

The medical term for a missing period is amenorrhea.
There are many perfectly good reasons for missing your period, like pregnancy, breastfeeding (known as lactational amenorrhea) or the start of peri-menopause or menopause.

There are other times where a missing period can be a significant indicator of an underlying health condition. Primary amenorrhea is when a young woman fails to start menstruating by the age of 16 - and should be assessed by a health professional.

Secondary amenorrhea is more common, and is defined by not having periods three months in a row or not having periods for at least 6 months, after previously menstruating normally.

Common causes of secondary amenorrhea may be as effects of medication such as the pill, chemotherapy, some antidepressants. Or as the result of medical conditions such as PCOS, thyroid conditions, FXPOI or pituitary tumours, which may need medical management and support.

Two conditions that require further support are hypothalamic amenorrhea and RED-S; both of these conditions can benefit from a multidisciplinary approach, including a fertility awareness educator. We can help to gather important information about your fertility and the effects that different lifestyle modifications are having on getting your hormones to reboot, your periods to return and most importantly, your menstrual cycles and your fertility to heal.

🏃🏼‍♀️It was once thought that high-performing female athletes losing their period was to do with been too lean and exercising too excessively.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👙Recently, it has emerged more frequently in the general population, including in those with a body fat percentage higher than 20-30% - well above the threshold for amenorrhea causation. Research is beginning to show that the increased trend of low carb and calorie restricted diets, such as paleo, intermittent fasting and metabolic efficiency are having unexpected effects of women’s hormones.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💪🏽Whilst low carb diets promote lean muscle production, anabolism and testosterone in men, they can have the opposite effect on women.
If your diet is too low in carbohydrates, you may cause a drop in estradiol, an increase in estrone and a systemic increase in cortisol, both of which cause you to store fats. Both of these hormones also suppress ovulation! Your body thinks it is in survival mode and reproduction in times of famine is not ideal: these hormonal cues may suppress your reproductive capacity as a result.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤽‍♀️RED-S is closely connected with hypothalamic amenorrhea, which I will discuss in the coming posts and stories.

✨ The number one question I get asked ✨
What is my fertile window?
Why does it matter? How can I figure it out?

🌱Your fertile window, very simply, is the lifespan of s***m + the lifespan of egg - it is the window of time in your cycle where these two could meet, be viable, conception could take place and implantation and pregnancy is possible.

💧The number one indicator of the fertile window opening is cervical mucus - and understanding and interpreting this information is KEY - whether you are trying to avoid pregnancy or achieve pregnancy: because it is the extender of the lifespan of s***m.

👩🏼‍⚕️The best way to get confident about tracking, understanding and assessing your fertile biomarkers is with the support of a qualified, caring and invested teacher - like me!
Send me a DM to chat more about your personal circumstance and reproductive goals and find out whether we can help you ❤️💃🏽

Do you have regular or irregular cycles?
Maybe your cycles have always been irregular, or maybe you have a crazy one every now and then but usually they are right on time.
Either way, the majority of the time, the cause of irregular lies in the follicular phase. This is the portion of your cycle where you are most susceptible to stress signaling to your hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis that it is not safe to ovulate or become pregnant at this time, and as a response hormone production will be disrupted and ovulation delayed or even suppressed this cycle. When ovulation is delayed or suppressed, we see a lengthening of our follicular phase - making our cycles appear “irregular”

Do you want help with your irregular cycles?
Book a one-on-one consultation through link in bio today - or even better, join our online course to understand your whole cycle and address the underlying cause of irregular periods once and for all!

Did you know that the bleed you have when you are taking the Combined Oral Contraceptive Pill, is actually not a period?

In fact, the placebo tablets were introduced to the packet to simulate a period bleed to reassure women they weren’t pregnant, to convince the Catholic church to accommodate the use of the Pill as a contraceptive, and to save some manufacturing costs - not because they were a medical necessity.

Check out our reel from yesterday, it explains why the difference between withdrawal bleed and a true period actually matters!

💃🏽 Your flow tells us multiple things about your overall health and wellbeing, so it is always helpful to understand baseline ranges and indicators of what would be a "healthy" period, and what might be unusual or require further investigation or management.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🩸Does your period fit in these ranges? If not, drop your unusual symptoms in the comments, or send us a DM to discuss what might be the cause, and what you can do next.
