I love being able to care for my patients from the earliest days of pregnancy all the way through to the birth and beyond. It was a privilege to deliver Santino (1 1/2 years old) and Rafael (6 weeks old). Thank you Mara and Javier for sharing your family with me! 🙏❤️

Did you know that on average a caesarean incision is about 14cm? It may be bigger or smaller as the incision needs to be big enough for baby’s head and body. 🐣 It is important to take as much care as possible when making the incision and putting in stitches. We both want the scar to heal as neatly as possible! 🙏

On Tuesday this week I was saddened (and angry) to read about so many women being delayed or denied epidurals when giving birth.😢😡 Let me reassure you that my patients who ask for an epidural get one. There are very few acceptable reasons why a patient might not receive a requested epidural – and they are all medically related. We all want a healthy outcome for mother and baby. If you have any concerns or questions about pain relief during labour, please raise them at our next appointment. ☺️

The Queensland Fertility Group GP Masterclass was held a fortnight ago and I was privileged to be one of the presenting specialists. Over the course of the day we fielded GP questions on fertility preservation, IVF vs ICSI, embryology, male infertility, PCOS, iron in pregnancy, common gynaecological conditions, endometriosis, obstetric complications, conception, managing miscarriage, genetics and carrier screening.
