Hi everyone! 👋

I hope you found the recent “How to Become a Radiologist” event helpful and informative.

For those interested in learning more about radiology training in Queensland, there is an upcoming QLD Radiology Trainee Information Evening on 30 April 2026 that I wanted to share.

The session will include:
• Official information about the RANZCR Radiology Training Program
• An overview of the five Queensland radiology training hubs
• Talks from senior radiologists and Directors of Training, with insights into the application process and training pathway

The event will be hosted at Townsville Hospital and will also be available via Microsoft Teams, making it accessible for anyone who can’t attend in person.

This is a great opportunity for anyone considering a career in radiology to learn more about the training program and hear directly from those involved in the process.

If you’re interested in radiology training, I’d highly encourage you to attend!

🩺 Medical students: interested in Interventional Radiology (IR)?

Not sure what IR is, or how to get involved as a student?
The Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia (IRSA) is looking to increase student engagement — and this year, student membership comes with a major added benefit.

⭐ Why join IRSA as a student?
• Access to local branch dinner meetings with presentations by established IR specialists
→ First dinner meeting this March
• 2026 IRSA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) registration is FREE for student members
→ This normally costs hundreds of dollars
→ First time this has been offered to students
→ ASM 2026 is in Brisbane, making it very accessible this year
→ Includes certificate of attendance and opportunities to network with IR specialists

More details about ASM here: https://www.irsaasm.com/registration

📝 How to join

• Student applications must be supported by an IRSA member
• Dr. Samuel Davis, Interventional Radiologist at RBWH, has kindly offered to co-sign student applications
📧 To apply or request support, email Samuel.Davis@health.qld.gov.au.

More information about membership:

💰 Cost: $96 annually (incl. GST)

If you’re even slightly curious about IR, this is an excellent way to explore the specialty early — and attend a national conference as a student without paying the usual registration fee.

Happy to answer questions in the comments or via DM 😊

An IRSA membership provides multiple benefits; access educational resources, network with professionals, and more.
