While we are pretty confident we are going to get mint choc chip in a waffle cone when ordering ice cream (maybe that's just founder Lisa?)……we are equally confident we are going to try a few samples first…..just to be sure.

Think of our Free Exploration Call as our best effort to let you sample your options before diving in. We care that you feel good about your care team and want to empower you to CHOOSE them based on what feels right for you and your concerns.

An Exploration Call is a free 15 minute virtual meeting with one of our passionate weight inclusive Intuitive Eating Dietitians. Our Dietitians look forward to this chance to get to say hi, work to answer some of your questions and give you some support with your next steps (even if that isn’t ultimately working with us).

We offer this as a Telehealth video chat OR we can simply give you a call on the phone if your prefer.

Book your Free Exploration Call with a Wander and Nourish Dietitian via the link in our bio today or call our lovely admin team to find out more and get set up.

*** You DO NOT need to have an Exploration Call before booking in to work with us. We just like to be a bit extra by offering the option ;). Feel free to skip right to the extra good stuff and book your Initial Appointment any time.

SO much easier said than truly felt or believed we know.

Culturally many unhelpful things have been wrapped around our food and eating. This makes it hard to NOT assume the way someone eats or what they eat directly says things about WHO they are. This also makes it hard to not believe this about ourselves.

When we label people and we label food we reinforce unhelpful and inaccurate narratives. Narratives that actually have a negative impact on our health and wellbeing (contributing to guilt, anxiety, disordered eating, eating disorders, a stressed out digestive system, shame....).

Maybe you were/are labled as the "healthy one" and you feel pressure to eat in a certain way.
Maybe you have experienced harmful commentary from care givers at a young age or from others as an adult.
Maybe something else entirely or a combination of things.

You are inherently worthy and deserving of all foods, of enough food and eating in a way that satisfies and nourishes you. We hope you have the access and we hope we can support you with working to re-author this narrative if its one you are holding.

Your food choices do not define your worth or value as a human being.

Digestive challenges for our clients bring along food challenges. Period. Full stop.

What form these challenges take vary based on someones experience of their digestion and body, their unique constellation of symptoms, their interactions and care in the medical system, investigations done or not, previous work to manage, personality, resources etc.

Regardless of those differing factors at play for a client and the tailored recommendations we make our primary goal is to support finding the most flexible and relaxed relationship with food and best symptom management possible for each persons unique digestive struggles.

Some strategies and tools work great for MOST clients (hello green kiwi fruit.....) while others might not work as well for everyone or well enough to be worth the investment (digestive enzymes anyone?!)

Let's build your toolkit to help you manage your unique symptoms so you can feel more calm and confident geting back to doing more things that matter to you (like happy hour or travel or just a shared meal with friends).

When people first consider responding to their experiences with kindness, resistance often comes up:

💭“Am I just letting myself off the hook? “
💭"If I don’t feel guilty, what will stop me?”
💭“Won’t self-compassion dull my sense of responsibility?”
💭“Will I become complacent?”
💭“Am I now justifying something I don’t like?"

These questions makes so much sense.

We often believe guilt is necessary to hold ourselves accountable and stay aligned with our values. But is that really true?

Take a moment to reflect. What your experience been? Has food guilt ever truly guided you toward your values?

For many people, guilt actually makes things harder.

When we feel like we’ve done something wrong, our thinking becomes clouded. We catastrophize, feel terrible, and often try to escape those feelings, whether by avoiding them altogether or through food.

In the face of guilt, we can fall into two common patterns:

🔄 The Restrict-Binge Cycle: We promise to "be good" tomorrow, setting ourselves up for future restriction and another binge.

⚫ The All-or-Nothing Mindset: We think, "I’ve already failed, so it doesn’t matter what I eat now."

Self-compassion can take us to other places.
Self-compassion isn’t deluding ourselves, or approving of things we don’t like. It’s not about forcing kindness either.

It’s about seeing reality more clearly - without the distortion of self-judgment.
For example a less critical voice acknowledges how we do feel. It places our feelings in a kinder and truthful story. It’s from this place we can have new experiences.

👉 “I’ve binged again, and this feels really hard. And I am still trying to find my way.”

💛 You don’t have to navigate this alone. You can work with one of our Intuitive Eating Dietitians to discover how to think about food in a more neutral way ~ to soften the judgment and build a different, more peaceful relationship with eating.

Here are five affirmations that can support you on your path of moving towards a more peaceful relationship with your body.

We invite you to choose the ones that ring true and resonate with you.

As we go through our day, naturally our attention is often pulled in many directions. Many thoughts may swirl in our mind.

So the purpose of affirmations is to have something to come back to that will ground us. Something that will gently remind us of the insights, perspectives and values that we want to connect with, but that our culture can pull us away from.

Which affirmation do you resonate with?

We invite reflection on what food means to you.

What values are important to you, that you could expand into your relationship with food? In this way, food can be a vehicle to align with your values, beyond just fuel, health or weight and shape.
