After an initial consult with our Audiologist to determine whether you are suitable for this program, engage in a 6 week structured program, which includes appointments with our Exercise Physiologist, Health Coach and Dietitian. May is Neurofibromatosis (NF) Awareness Month. Throughout the month of May, we will be sharing NF facts, driving awareness about this condition. Neurofibromatosis Type 2 is often a hereditary condition that can result in bilateral acoustic tumours, thus causing hearing loss. For NF Awareness Month the campaign is to 'shine light on NF' by lighting up homes, buildings and bridges in green and blue. If you cannot do this, simply show your support by wearing a blue and green shirt on the 22nd of May for NF2 day.

Parents, this one is for you. We are frequently asked by parents what they can do to protect their child's hearing. With the incidence of hearing loss on the increase among younger people due to headphone use, it is now important more than ever that we teach our children safe listening habits. As a general rule of thumb, the volume on their devices should not exceed 50%. It is also recommended that they take hourly breaks from noise. Where possible, noise cancelling headphones can prevent against premature hearing loss from noise damage. If you aren't sure what headphones are best for your child, have a complimentary chat with our Audiologist to see what we recommend.

Here are 3 helpful communication strategies to use when talking to a friend, stranger or loved one with a hearing loss. Even if that person has hearing aids, it is important to use these strategies to improve communication outcomes. That means, try not to talk through walls, don't cover your mouth and when talking with someone who is hearing impaired, speak at a normal pace but speak CLEARLY. Shouting at them will not help!
