Take everything I say here ā¦.with a grain of salt, BUT
š SIBO healing can (and should) include SOME fibre in the diet, AFTER your symptoms have stabilised. Your microbiome depends on it. But take it easy. When I say take it easy ā¦.start with very small amounts of your chosen fibre to begin with.
Not all SIBO is the same. Not everyone will react to fibre in the same way. Itās important to work out what foods YOUR SIBO can tolerate and what that tolerance limit is.
š¤°Methanogen overgrowth - IMO/CMO/SIBO-M. If your SIBO is purely methanogen based ā¦.you will likely find that you handle fibre much better than any other SIBO group. Experimenting with flaxseed meal, chia seeds and even psyllium husks will likely pay dividends for SIBO healing and for getting those slow bowels moving.
ā” You still need to start with small amounts and gently build to your tolerance limits.
š¤°Classic SIBO/SIBO-H/Hydrogen Sulphide SIBO/Mixed Types - you guys can be a little more sensitive to fibre and you need to be VERY careful. Waiting until you are at the stage of food re-introductions (or Phase 2 Biphasic Diet) will be important and you may even need a little longer than that to ensure that your gut is stable.
If youāre following BiPhasic diet, youāll notice that some of these foods are not included in your protocol but they ARE if youāre following Low FODMAP. I try to move clients through biphasic diet, to low FODMAP as quickly as possible for the sake of your microbiome. All of these foods are worth a try if your symptoms are stable.
If youāre feeling stuck with your SIBO healing or you havenāt even started yet ā¦.itās time to HIT THE BOOKING LINK in my Bio.
