What should I compare next?

Letting our ancestral wisdom die with us?

That scares me even more.

We’ve inherited healing tools that have almost been erased by shame, colonisation and disconnection.

If you’re an African in the diaspora looking to reconnect with your roots and eat better in the process…

➡️Follow along. This space is for us 🧡

I’m building the AfriWellness Food Directory in public — in 30 days.

This app will make it easier to access info on African foods, herbs, and traditional wellness — so we don’t keep forgetting what we already know.

Follow along for stories, research, and the process of launching something for us.

If you are on a journey - of healing, of rediscovery, of purpose - you’re not alone.

We keep showing up.

Not because it’s easy, but because it matters.

Others are quiet and generational.

I’m learning to stop running from mine - and start reconnecting.

➡️ follow if you are doing the same.

I didn’t touch the app today…and that’s okay. Today was quiet. I didn’t work on the app… but I did plant okra in the garden 🌱
It reminded me of when okra water was trending last year —
and how little we really understand about the African foods we already have.

I wrote a blog post about okra’s benefits.

Fast diets.
Fast medicine.
Fast results.

We have a mango plant that’s been struggling lately.

And I was this close to going out to buy a bottle of liquid fertiliser to help it along…

But I got a hunch to check the worm farm.

To slow down.
To look again at what I already had.

Because when nature takes her time… we assume she’s not working.

We give up on our foods, our remedies, our land.

We call them “slow.”
“Outdated.”
Even “dirty.”

But these worm castings — aka Black Gold — taught me something:

✨The best solutions already exist.
✨But if we don’t tap into them… nothing changes.

It took time to get these castings.
They didn’t show up on Day 1.

But they were working underground the entire time.

And now — look at the abundance that was waiting for me.

Nature isn’t outdated.
We just insist on working on a different timeline.

🧠 Slow doesn’t mean ineffective.
🌿 Traditional doesn’t mean irrelevant.
💛 The healing you’re looking for might already be in your backyard.

The Resurrection Bush is used in African traditional medicine but it’s also a key ingredient in Crema Nera a luxury face cream by Giorgio Armani.

Our plants have always had value - we just haven’t known it.
