MyHealthTeam

MyHealthTeam Collaborative allied health team The my Health Team brand was developed by Andrew Simpson and Mark Antonello in 2012.

The company was formed with the vision that patient health care would be improved if patients had more access to allied health services. We provide the services of physiotherapy, exercise physiology, dietetics, psychology and podiatry to general practitioner clinics that wish to improve the access of services for their patients and achieve healthier outcomes. We believe that patient health managem

ent is optimized when the patient referral transit time is minimized and therefore we developed our services to be accessed from the clinic where the patient is treated by their regular doctor. This has already anecdotally resulted in improved patient compliance and better patient health management from the clinics we currently work with. It is a common issue faced with treating doctors whose patients have difficulty accessing the necessary services to improve their health. This is often due to many reasons including a lack of allied health services to smaller communities, rural location, out of pocket expenses, difficulty acquiring patient transport and difficulty securing an appointment in due time. We believe that all patients should have better access to allied health services and have developed a business model to facilitate this multi-disciplined approach. My Health Team was initially used by 2 clinics on the Gold Coast and has now partnered up with over 10 clinics in South East QLD with ongoing interest from many others. In a society with increasing numbers of chronic disease cases we believe we can assist in curbing this trend by working in close unison with local general practitioners and believe all Australians should have access to the appropriate health services.

It is with much sadness that I say goodbye to the place I have called home for 7 years. I am moving on to be part of our construction business helping with the ever growing piles of paperwork 😬 I have met some wonderful people, clients and staff, over the years (these being just a few) and I am going to miss you all. Thank you to everyone for making classes fun and interesting. I have learnt as much from you as you have from me. I am going to miss you all. Take care, keep up the good work and all the best for your future. Kaz πŸ™β€οΈ

Do you know what Deep Tissue Massage is?

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue. It is a massage with hard pressure technique that release the muscles of the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas, either following or going across the grains of muscles, tendons and fascia.

Is Deep Tissue painful?
Not necessary, you always need talk with your therapist about how is the pressure for you. It’s a type of massage may cause some discomfort during the massage or the next day, because release trigger points, but the level need to be acceptable for you.

Our body contains hundreds of sensory nerves that communicate with the brain. They detect things like temperature pressure, movement and much more. These nerves are called nociceptors. They send messages to the brain to alert it to actual or potential damage in the body. It's like the alarm system in our body.

Our brain receives these messages and decides what's important and what it needs to give more attention too. The brain makes these decisions based on past experiences, and gathers information through what were seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, thinking and our emotions. If it decides that this message is very important it will send a pain signal back to the nerves. This happens in an instant and it helps protects us from danger.

If it decides the message isn't very important, it will decide to not send a pain signal. For example, have you ever noticed bruises and wondered how you got them? The brain would have gathered all available information and decided that it wasn't a big threat to us and no need to get you to pay attention to that area.

Pain is generated from the brain and these sensors in our brain are changing all the time, which is perfectly normal!
