Different drops do different things; some hydrate, some treat allergies, and some can actually make dry eyes worse if used too often.

Sharks have a special “nictitating membrane” that covers and protects their eyes while they attack prey. Humans? We’ve got nothing like it, which is why swimming with open eyes stings (especially in chlorine)!
