Did you know there are 6 genetic variants that influence how coffee affects the body?

Some people are actually able to metabolize the stimulant more effectively than others.⁠ ⁠

Interestingly, the enzymes responsible for 90% of caffeine clearance in the liver are coded by the CYP1A2 gene and could provide a level of insight as to why some people feel great and alert after just one cup of coffee, while others need several cups to get going. ⁠ ⁠

As always, there are non-genetic factors that can impact the way caffeine is metabolized and utilized - consumption of broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables as well as large quantities of Vitamin C have been shown to increase the metabolism of caffeine. ⁠ ⁠

Meet Kate:
After 20 years working in the beauty industry in a demanding corporate role, my journey of health issues was a doozy of a run sheet; gut issues, hormone imbalance and a chronic state of stress lead to a nervous breakdown and left me feeling lost and disconnected from myself. ⁠ ⁠
