Today me is thanking Sunday me for the food prep 😆👏🏻😎 Leftover slow roast lamb with tray baked veggies and the broccoli mince I cooked as well to go with a lamb curry I’ve frozen into portions for later. 😋

Sundays are busy with two little ones (as are every day!) and I had about 7 baskets of laundry to fold but prioritised the food prep and I’m glad I did! No disasters happened because the laundry remained unfolded. 😮‍💨

POLYPHENOLS and GUT HEALTH 💜💚

Yes, these are Brussel sprouts - Red Darling ones to be precise. They are a gorgeous colour combo and are a great source of dietary polyphenols - natural antioxidants and prebiotic which means food for our good gut bacteria.

Enjoying a range of coloured veggies and fruits, depending on your preferred intake is great for our gut bacteria.

I love to serve these roasted in olive oil and spices (these ones from ) and also shown are my fave green beans about to be roasted with ground cumin and garlic olive oil 😋

Happy Mother’s Day ! 🌹
She’s taught me the value of working hard, bucket loads of appreciation and knowing there’s more to life than meets the eye 🌌.

Being a Mum on Mother’s Day makes me appreciate a lot about what we are capable of and in awe of the responsibility and honour it is to raise gorgeous young men.

Likewise, it’s not an easy day for many so thinking of you also today 💐

It was a very fancy dinner with little bits of things - I had no idea what most of it was but they did GF DF well!

There is an announcement in the last 24 hours that the government would increase GP bulk billing rebates if re-elected. Reading between the lines - it will not change increase bulk billing for private billing GPs as the ‘incentive’ still fall about 30% shorter than standard GP consultation costs. Eg an item 23 (up to 20min consult) currently attracts a $42 rebate. With the incentives reaches $69. Current AMA fees and my current fee for this is just over $100.
They are not just ubiquitously increasing the GP rebate for your healthcare, only if it is bulk billed, which remains unsustainable for many practices.
The Medicare rebate is your rebate - you can ask for more from the government in this regard - however the discussion does need to be had whether healthcare can afford to be totally free and subsidised by the government. This is what the UK does and it currently does not function well, by most reports.
Healthcare being accessible is important, there are many factors to consider here and it is made difficult when politics influence it rather than it being a truly supportive model for all involved.

Ceremony ✨
How is our health related to this you may ask?
Little things we do in our day or night routine - that are not purely about function or getting from a to b. Touches that make us feel a ‘je ne sais quoi’ (I don’t know what) but nourish us in some way.
For me, was putting these little strip lights around the place (from IKEA).
They remind me of the ✨ and add a little bit of sparkle to each evening.

I’ve caught the cleaning bug! 🧼
When we last moved I had a small baby and was working so didn’t have much thought to give to where things went. Cleaning out under the stairs and finding these books 📚 has been great.
I love to have space to read, especially things about medicine! Looking forward to having more of that this year 📕
