My journey with Traditional Old Style Hawaiian Lomi Lomi began 23 years ago when I first received Lomi from Dawn Charlton. That experience opened my heart in ways I couldn’t have imagined and set me on a path of deep connection with this sacred work.
I was later blessed to be introduced to Kahu Sherman Dudoit when he travelled from Hawai‘i during the time he was passing his blessing and the lineage on to Dawn. Through my connection and conversations with both Kahu Sherman and Dawn, my respect for the lineage only deepened. I came to understand how carefully guarded and sacred this tradition truly is—like a temple, it is protected with reverence and deep responsibility. I have also come to understand that there are sacred spiritual laws behind this tradition, which guide and protect the lineage, ensuring it remains pure and honoured.
Over the years, I worked closely with Dawn—helping to organize workshops and working side by side with her offering 4-hands Lomi. I was blessed to be immersed in witnessing the depth and richness of this lineage, not just through study, but through lived experience, practice, and service. That time was a profound education in itself, one that continues to shape how I carry this work.
Through nearly two decades of practicing under Dawn’s guidance, I’ve come to feel the unique vibration that this lineage holds. It’s something rare and unmistakable. Many of my clients have shared that they sense the difference when they’ve experienced other forms of Lomi—it’s not just a technique, but a sacred energy that flows through the teachings.
When accepting new Lomi students into this lineage, this cannot be approached with entitlement—it calls for alignment, humility, and readiness. The transmission of this work is not casual—it’s a sacred ritual that requires genuine resonance with its truth.
There is a hypnotic fingerprint in this lineage—a carving of the old style that has been carefully tended by its true kumu, Dawn. This kind of transmission cannot be replicated without the blessing. I can place my hand on my heart and say I’ve been privileged to witness the depth and beauty of it.
Lomi Lomi is becoming more widely known and while that’s beautiful in many ways, it also means there are now many versions being shared.
We understand it can be confusing to know what’s authentic, especially when others are using similar names or claiming to teach “traditional old style” Lomi Lomi.
Here’s what we want you to know: There is only one Traditional Old Style Hawaiian Lomi Lomi lineage — and this is it. Passed directly to Dawn Charlton by her teacher, through serving a one-on-one apprenticeship over a period of four years, and held with deep respect, this work is shared exactly as it was taught: with prayer, presence, and the pure intention to heal.
We don’t say this to compete. We say it to honour the lineage. If you feel the call to learn Lomi Lomi, we encourage you to do your research. Ask questions. Listen deeply. Trust your heart.
You’ll know when you’ve found the real thing.
