Current Brisbane news that can have an impact in real estate. And general Brisbane news.

🏟️ Major 2032 Games Infrastructure

The federal government has earmarked A$3.4 billion for a proposed 63,000-seat stadium at Victoria Park (Barrambin), to host ceremonies and athletics for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This is part of a wider A$7.1 billion investment in venues, including a new aquatics centre and transport upgrades. Construction preparatory works are already underway. 

🚆 Transport Upgrade: Brisbane Metro

Brisbane’s Metro bus rapid transit system is expanding its frequency: M1 route launched 30 June and M2 (since January). Electric bi-articulated buses now run every 5 minutes at peak, carrying up to 3,000 passengers per hour per direction — improving connectivity across the city. 

🏞️ Kangaroo Point Green Bridge Now Open

The 470 m pedestrian and cycle bridge connecting Kangaroo Point and the CBD officially opened in December 2024. On-site dining options include Mulga Bill’s Kitchen & Bar and Stilts, the latter offering over-water restaurant seating. 

🔧 Story Bridge Path Closure

Pedestrian and cycle paths on the Story Bridge have been closed indefinitely due to structural issues like rust and concrete cancer. The council has indicated a full restoration may be required by 2045.

The RBA will wait for the March quarter inflation data before considering pulling the rate cut.
