π¦ About me, my journey and the horse that has my heart π¦
At 12, I was incredibly lucky to have been provided an opportunity to work for a very special man by the name of Barry who owned an Endurance stud in Cairns. Barry sadly passed away last year and I was by his side. What made Barry such a special and honourable person was that, against all odds that I faced, he never looked at any factor that would inhibit me from participating or performing. Rather, he looked at my heart for the horses and found ways to include, encourage and support me to become the best competitive rider I could be. He was the same with horses. With this spirit we achieved great things together. In 2015, I moved to Brisbane to study and got my very own first horse, Readouts Rose Mercedes, affectionately known as Mercy - she was 2. The first five years I was focused on graduating my Bachelor & Honours Degrees in Psychological Sciences, then establishing my career, so Mercy and I enjoyed trail rides. In the last four years, I have been on the competitive journey in other Equestrian Sports and my experiences continue to highlight just how lucky I was to have met and ridden for Barry. Iβve learnt that sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you get lessons; Iβve had the gift of many lessons. Lessons about people who lie about their experience, credentials, love for horses, achievements, what they will deliver and even what their intentions are. Iβve paid the price for my naivety in thinking the horse world must be full of Barryβs. Yet, what has kept me here is the fact that, for every terrible person, piece of information or experience Iβve encountered, Iβve met two more great people, ten valuable pieces of information and had countless greater experiences. All with my beautiful heart horse mercy, who tries hard for me every day, despite this confusing journey we have been on. Our incredible connection has remained strong and untarnished - we have jumped, enduranced, dressaged and even shown together. Yet the greatest gift she has give me is the ability to see true intention and find things that actually work [ particularly against all odds ] - and this how was bornπ₯ππ¦
