Life isn’t always easy...
But it also doesn’t need to be so hard. You are not alone. Most people will at some time in their lives experience emotional distress
that feels overwhelming. You do not need to suffer in silence. Psychological therapy can provide the listening ear, wisdom and expertise to help you manage life difficulties, so you can enjoy a more happy, content and fulfilled Life. Anxiety, depression, trauma, loss,
physical, sexual or emotional abuse,
loneliness and isolation, bereavement,
relationship difficulties, separation & divorce,
family problems, overwhelming life circumstances,
child & adolescent emotional and behavioural concerns,
phobia, social anxiety, work and financial stress, bullying,
obsessional concerns, sleep disturbance, eating and weight difficulties
living with physical or mental illness or disability - your own or others'. These are just a few of the experiences that can result in life feeling overwhelming. All you need to do is reach out and ask for help. You do not have to endure these experiences alone, nor do you need to experience them indefinitely. All you need to do is make one simple phone call. You’ll be glad you did.

Simply powerful 😌

She sat at the back and they said she was
shy
She led from the front and they hated her
pride
They asked her advice and then questioned her guidance
They branded her loud then were shocked by her silence

When she shared no ambition, they said it was
sad
So she told them her dreams and they said she was mad
They told her they’d listen then covered their
ears
And gave her a hug whilst they laughed at her
fears

And she listened to all of it thinking she
should
Be the girl they told her to be best as she
could
But one day she asked what was best for
herself
Instead of trying to please everyone
else

So she walked to the forest and stood with the
trees
She heard the wind whisper and dance with the leaves
And she spoke to the willow, the elm and the
pine
And she told them what she’d been told time after time

She told them she felt she was never enough
She was either too little or far, far too much
Too loud or too quiet, too fierce or too weak
Too wise or too foolish, too bold or too meek

Then she found a small clearing surrounded by
firs
And she stopped and she heard what the trees said to her
And she sat there for hours not wanting to
leave
For the forest said nothing, it just let her

breathe

This year has been an exceptionally tough one for many.

May we all treat each other with a little extra kindness this Christmas Season - for none of us can truly know the troubles or burdens another is carrying, nor the reasons behind the differing choices made.

Let us all be a little more thoughtful, caring, and above all, kind.. πŸŒŸπŸŽ„πŸŒŸ

This is a really fabulous interview with Chris' partner Alyssa - who struggles with Generalised Anxiety, OCD, Trichotillomania and ADHD. With a little bit of information about their relationship dynamics.

FYI
Trichotillomania is a type of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - and Tricho, OCD and Generalised Anxiety are all types of Anxiety Disorder.

ADHD and Anxiety/Obsessive Compulsive tendencies typically co-exist, with the OCD tendences varying in severity, from perfectionistic, pedantic tendencies to a fully diagnosable Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

I’ve long noticed that the characteristics we each have, seem to have a flip-side and a flop-side. We need to RECOGNISE and embrace the flip and then work on the flop ☺️

Gillian is a seven-year-old girl who cannot sit still in school. She continually gets up, gets distracted, flies with thoughts, and doesn't follow lessons. Her teachers worry about her, punish her, scold her, reward the few times that she is attentive, but nothing. Gillian does not know how to sit and cannot be attentive.

When she comes home, her mother punishes her too. So not only does have bad grades and punishment at school, but she also suffers from them at home.

One day, Gillian's mother is called to school. The lady, sad as someone waiting for bad news, takes her hand and goes to the interview room. The teachers speak of illness, of an obvious disorder. Maybe it's hyperactivity or maybe she needs a medication.

During the interview another teacher arrives who knows the little girl. He asks all the adults, mother and colleagues, to follow him into an adjoining room from where she can still be seen. As he leaves, he tells Gillian that they will be back soon and turns on an old radio with music.

As the girl is alone in the room, she immediately gets up and begins to move up and down chasing the music in the air with her feet and her heart. The teacher smiles as the colleagues and the mother look at him between confusion and compassion, as is often done with the old. So he says:

"See? Gillian is not sick, Gillian is a dancer!"

He recommends that her mother take her to a dance class and that her colleagues make her dance from time to time. She attends her first lesson and when she gets home she tells her mother:

"Everyone is like me, no one can sit there!"

In 1981, after a career as a dancer, opening her own dance academy and receiving international recognition for her art, Gillian Lynne became the choreographer of the musical "Cats."

Hopefully all β€œdifferent” children find adults capable of welcoming them for who they are and not for what they lack.

Long live the differences, the little black sheep and the misunderstood. They are the ones who create beauty in this world.
