Not your average “after” post 🏋️♀️
For one, I won’t be posting a “before” because pregnancy isn’t a “before” stage. It’s a transition. You’re no longer the person you were before. Your body is different and it’s likely your organs were rearranged somewhat in the process 😂
I’m coming up to 2 years postpartum and the numbers (that I’ve tracked) are all “better” than pre-pregnancy.
My mass is down, my weights are up.
I’m in my pre-pregnancy clothes and some fit better.
But it’s not about that.
I have a hyperactive 14kg not-quite-two year old.
I’m pretty much booked out with coaching clients.
I’m doing a full time post grad course load.
Exercise is as much for my mental health and cognition as it is for my strength and health span.
Body composition is low on the list.
I know there is a lot of pressure on mums to “bounce back” and be these lean hot mamas but honestly you can’t feel your best if you’re in deficit all the time.
Protein is key for emotional & hormonal regulation.
Eating enough in general is hard for a lot of mums.
Don’t make it harder for yourself by putting the pressure on yourself to lose weight.
Focus on nourishing your body and brain with protein, a rainbow of vegetables, plenty of fibre, good fats, flavour, and the occasional component purely just for enjoyment.
Move for your strength, your future self, your kiddos, and your mental health. They all matter way more than the number on the scale.
