Spain has made history by becoming the first country in Europe to approve paid menstrual leave. This groundbreaking measure allows women to take paid sick leave if they suffer from incapacitating menstrual pain, officially recognizing period pain as a legitimate reason to miss work.

According to See News, the duration depends on a medical report confirming that symptoms such as severe cramps, dizziness or nausea prevent a woman from working normally. This policy has sparked debate across Europe. Supporters argue that it is a step toward workplace equality and health recognition, while critics worry it could reinforce gender stereotypes or discourage employers from hiring women.
