Westside Eye Doctors will reopen after the Christmas break on Monday 11 January 2021 as scheduled. If you have an appointment scheduled please note that accessing medical appointments is acceptable during lockdown. Masks will need to be worn by everyone; social distancing will be adhered to. Wherever possible patients should attend their appointment without additional people. Further updates will be provided as the situation evolves.

COVID 19 UPDATE

EMERGENCIES – Westside Eye Doctors are available for face to face urgent and emergency consultations for new or existing patients.

Bulk billed telehealth appointments are available to eligible patients. Please call 07 3188 5185 to arrange. As usual, you will require a current referral.

The Australian Government has announced that all Australians are now eligible for telehealth consultations (previously eligibility was only for those in isolation/quarantine or people considered vulnerable). Telehealth consultations will allow patients who are in self isolation, quarantine or social distancing themselves to access medical services.

As per the Government restrictions, all elective surgery, in public and private hospitals, has been cancelled. Westside Eye Doctors are still able to perform emergency surgery. If you have surgery booked our staff will be in contact with you.

Thursday 12 October 2017 is World Sight Day.

World Sight Day is a day focussing global attention on blindness and vision impairment. One of the main messages of World Sight Day is to work towards reducing, or eliminating, preventable blindness and vision loss.

Did you know, according to Vision20/20 Australia:
- In Australia 90% of vision loss and blindness is preventable or treatable if diagnosed early
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are 3 times more likely to be blind or vision impaired than non-Indigenous Australians
- Recent global estimates suggest that up to 80% of vision impairment and blindness is avoidable
