Sore neck? Headaches? Pins and needles down the outside of your arm and hand?

Upper X syndrome is a common postural abnormality, that leaves those affected in pain, frustrated and confused.

Pete who is a prosper member in this photo suffered from chronic neck pain, headaches, pins and needles in the outside of the arm.

The photo on the right is taken 6 months later after performing a corrective exercise program and changing nutrition and lifestyle habits. Here he is no longer in any pain and living a life of real quailty, doing activities like running and swimming which he thought he wouldn't be able to do again.

Exercise is used as a tool which causes hormonal change and raises the mood of the individual, but it should also be used as a corrective tool by fitness professionals and not just a means of thrashing people into the ground with no reference to form, technique or exercise selection, that only enhances such postural issues and pain.

Great talk on nutrition and importance of fats, used specifically to cure type 2 diabetes. We are all conditioned to eat an excessively amount of carbs and that they are absolutely essential to be healthy. Once you go low carb, eat real food and experience the health effects you will not be so convinced.

One of Prospers past private members Campbell.

Campbell came Prosper burnt out and confused as to why he was not getting results with training, he cycled for extended periods 3x a week and went to the gym regularly. Unfortunately he just ended up sore and not getting the results he desired.

About to turn 40 years old at the time he had the desire of being in better shape at 40 than when he was 30.

The below photo shows him after training for 2 months at Prosper where he completed a cleanse and underwent many lifestyle related changes to enhance his quality of life. Campbell was a dream member and took action on all the nutrition, exercise and lifestyle changes given to him religiously.

The second photo on the right was taken a few weeks out from his 40th birthday - needless to say Campbell was a happy camper.

Often i post the end result of members before and after postural pictures showing dramatic change overtime. The picture below typifies the journey you don't see.

The journey to any goal is made a lot easier though through professional coaching and someone giving you a map to achieving your desires.

Most members that first enter Prosper just want to get out of pain and live life with a fully functional body, after they achieve that though, the realisation is they have so much more to grow and new goals are developed.

The two ways that create the change you want

1 - Constant repetition of actions, ideas completely the opposite from the way you currently do things, with the aid of coaching for an extended period of time

2 - Significant emotional event that immediately changes your innate being and creates opposite actions to your current paradigm. This can happen via the death of a loved one or a significant life event - i see this with members whom have gotten injured, been in pain too many years or had a serious illness.

This information is taken from the Bob Proctor an amazing guy who's work really shows human behaviour and how change happens. We see examples of his work in ourselves and many of Prospers members.

Perfect day for making broth. Anybody else love it this time of year. The best stock, soup, and ridiculously good for you ๐Ÿ‘Œ this combination is 6 chicken feet, 3 carcass, 6 carrots, broccoli, fresh coriander and thyme. 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, and clove of garlic. Simmer for 8 hours and your ready to go. Thanks to for the chickens.

Supine Lateral Ball Roll

Learning this from Paul Chek this is the most used exercise at Prosper, whether you are in pain or an elite athlete this exercise is used in about 90% of programs initially given.

Why?

It gets every plane of motion, stabilises the hip and lower back by working the posterior oblique sling - Lats and Glute muscles.

I would question any gym which does not utilise this exercise or a form of it in proper rehabilitation and stabilisation of the member.

At Prosper we use a specific warm up conducive to each individuals postural status, this allows you to stretch and release what is tight and mobilise the joints which need greater movement before you train. A specific warm up is essential to getting quality postural change, readying you for exercise and mentally preparing you for the movement you are about to perform
