🦋 A little story about how our choice of healthcare provider can be life changing:
In this photo I'm holding myself through excruciating abdominal pain and menstrual cramps while on holiday. I cried from the pain. It radiated from my stomach down to my legs and inner thighs and lasted more than 24 hours, although the total discomfort from each cycle would last two weeks out of each month. This was the end of 2022. I was also told during a transvaginal ultrasound (the instrument was literally still inside me) that I may not be able to have children, to have them soon or if not to freeze my eggs- when I reacted with fear and shock I was told to 'calm down and wait for the written report.' I was also told I had adenomyosis and evidence of endo and to get surgery.
I PERSONALLY refused to accept that path and treatment direction because it didn't feel right in my gut. I searched and searched while the pain continued. I came across a podcast that discussed pain reprocessing therapy. Before falling pregnant this year I did A LOT of work in the form of seeing a (beautiful) naturopath who also guided me through pain reprocessing and it changed my whole world. It all came back down to trauma, survival mode and my nervous system. As women, we are deeply, inherently connected to our cycles.
I went from suffering half the year in total, to only some pain one day each cycle, or no pain at all. I'm not saying you have to choose any particular treatment, but you should choose your providers carefully. Find someone who will listen and support, not scold and dismiss. You are worthy enough to spend the time and energy on healthcare that resonates. Don't give up. I see you🦋
