Family peer workers, who have lived experience of caring for a family member with mental ill-health, play an essential role in offering practical and emotional support to those facing similar challenges.

The value and importance of this support is the focus of a new paper led by Orygen, which argues that improvements in research, policy and practice are needed to strengthen the field.

Inspiring to be at Parliament House in Canberra today to help amplify Ending Loneliness Together's new research into youth loneliness.

Orygen Youth Advisory Council member Lea Gabriel and Executive Director Prof. Patrick McGorry joined panel discussions to unpack the findings, which reveal that an alarming 43% of 15 to 25-year-olds in Australia are lonely.

We were pleased to contribute to Ending Loneliness Together's call for a coordinated national response to youth loneliness, and for Lea and Pat's perspectives to form part of such important conversations.

The end of a relationship should never mean the end of a life.

However, new Orygen research has revealed that tragically, men who have recently experienced a relationship breakup, separation or divorce are up to eight times more likely to die by su***de than their married peers – and young men are especially at risk.

Lead author and Orygen Research Fellow, Michael Wilson, said while the reasons leading to suicidal behaviour in men were complex, the risk factors associated with intimate relationship breakdown must be addressed.

"Recognising the major impact of relationship breakdown is vital for su***de prevention efforts, and it is critical that we better educate young men in how to handle rejection, how to cope with the end of a relationship and where to seek support."

"We're 50 years on from the beginning of NAIDOC, which is absolutely truly deadly ... and I think that it really shows this passing the torch moment to our youth."

Jessy Renouf is a proud Gubbi Gubbi woman and a member of Orygen's National Youth Advisory Council.

Here, Jessy reflects on NAIDOC Week's meaning, significance, and how she'll be celebrating. In Jessy's words, it's an invitation to "come and celebrate our culture and see our culture as a strength".

We were thrilled to today welcome The University of Melbourne Narrm Scholars to Orygen as part of their Industry Insights Program 🌱

Across the day, the scholars heard from a panel of Orygen team members, networked with staff more widely, and toured our Parkville site to see work in action.

It was a great opportunity to highlight career possibilities in youth mental health and be inspired by these emerging changemakers!

There's so much we're looking forward to in July, but first let's take a look back at the month that was! 🔄
