We were glad to have La Trobe OT students share their project on Group Therapy Sessions for Adolescents with Autism. They brought fresh ideas, creative strategies, and practical ways to make group therapy more meaningful for young people.

This also wrapped up their project placement with us. A big thank you to everyone who took part in the survey, our Allied Health Team for supporting the process, and of course the students for their thoughtful work.

Moments like these remind us how much we grow when we learn together—and how that growth helps us create better support for participants.

Today is R U OK? Day—a reminder that a simple question can open the door to hope and connection.

For many autistic people, the risk of su***de is higher due to factors such as social isolation, late diagnosis, mental health challenges, and the daily effort of masking. Starting conversations with compassion and clarity can make a real difference.

Sometimes, finding the words isn’t simple. That’s why it’s important to allow space, ask clear questions, and listen in ways that respect each person’s communication style. You don’t need to have all the answers—just showing you care can change a life.

The R U OK? 4 steps—Ask, Listen, Encourage Action, and Check In—are simple yet powerful ways to support someone.

Let’s remember to check in with family and friends—not just today, but every day.
