This Human Rights Day (Dec 10), we recognise the fundamental freedoms and rights that every person deserves—dignity, safety, equality, and the opportunity to live a full and meaningful life.

We believe that human rights must include equal access, equitable support, and the freedom for every individual to participate fully in their community. When we protect the rights of people, we strengthen inclusion, champion diversity, and move towards a society where everyone is valued and lives life well.

Today reminds us to listen, learn, advocate, and stand together for fairness and equality across all communities.

To gear up for the holidays, the Autism Abilities team will be welcoming Christmas Scout elves into the office to get into the Christmas spirit. 🌲🎁🎄

Every now and then, the Christmas elf will be mysteriously moved to new places around the office. Maybe you'll see him hanging out by the coffee machine in the kitchen, maybe you will see him colouring in Christmas sheets near the front desk. See if you can spot him when you come into office and give us suggestions as to what his name should be!

Say hello to Katrina! 😽 She’s a Reception and Administration Officer with a sunny disposition and loves a good chat. Her mission in life is to pet every cat she sees, she despises mosquitoes with a passion of a thousand suns, and she is close to completing her latest crochet project - a very hungry caterpillar scarf. Swing by the clinic to maybe see the completed scarf in person~! (●'◡'●)

On this International Day of People with Disability, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and unique talents of every individual. We believe that true inclusion means seeing people for their abilities, not their limitations, and creating spaces where everyone can belong, contribute, and thrive.

Every step toward accessibility, understanding, and acceptance helps build a world where diversity is embraced and every voice is valued. Together, we can make inclusion not just a goal, but a reality.

Every journey is different, and meaningful progress often happens in the small, everyday moments. We’re excited to share a glimpse into the wonderful growth of a sibling pair supported by our Allied Health team for nearly five years.

Through a recent cooking session, we saw how Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology come together to build real-life skills, confidence, communication, and independence. From following steps in a recipe to working together, communicating, and exploring sensory experiences, these sessions are designed not just to teach but to empower.

Our Allied Health team continues to support their development with personalised, strengths-based approaches that help them participate more fully in activities they enjoy. Each session builds on the last, creating long-term, positive impact in their daily lives.
