I am a fully qualified and Registered Counsellor with an Australian Counselling Association-accredited Diploma of Counselling. Other certifications include Working with Children Micro Credential (Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors). I have lived experience as a family member and in my own right across many areas including anxiety, depression, women's issues, parenting, pregnancy loss

, grief, work stress and others. With almost two decades of experience working in the social services sector and a broad range of life circumstances, my breadth of knowledge and understanding is invaluable when working with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. In my role as a Counsellor for Blue Harbour Counselling, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches including Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, including Mindfulness-Based Therapies. My understanding of the NDIS comes from working as an Early Childhood Practitioner for Wanslea Family Services and as a Support Coordinator for St. Jude’s Health Services and Hera Support. I also have experience in workshop facilitation, and coaching individuals across the lifespan.

As we mark the halfway point this Children's Week, I pause to reflect on the theme: "Children have the right to relax, play and take part in activities they enjoy."
This comes from the UNCRC Article 31: All Children have the right of the child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts.

People often ask if online counselling is as effective as face to face.

Online mental health has opened doors for many who were unable to access traditional therapy.

What are some of the benefits of online counselling?
Convenient and flexible
• Easy to schedule in appointments in your workday or anytime that is convenient
• Save time with not having to drive or find parking
• Can be done on the phone, a tablet or laptop reducing technology barriers
Affordable and accessible
• Online counselling is often slightly cheaper due to lower costs
• Easily accessed from office, home, or no matter where you are
• Better access for people with disability, in regional or remote areas
Comfortable and safe
• Being able to talk to someone from the comfort of your own home may help you to feel less anxious and open up more than you would in person.
• It potentially reduces the stigma of having to go to a counsellor’s office and allows you privacy.
• Talking on the phone may help you take the first step towards changing your life, to build confidence in therapy and trust in the therapist
