Hello, my name is Nicholas Stanton, and I work as a Structural Integration practitioner.
Structural Integration seeks to first identify, then ameliorate and neutralise the shortnesses in the body leading to pain, and reduced ranges of motion.

The Fascia is the white fibrous net that encompasses muscles, ligaments, tendons and even bone.
It is this net of Fascia that is responsible for transfering strain around the body, as well as moving water throughout the tissues.

The tissues of the body are marvelously intelligent, and can be trained to be supple, and also stiff.

Every session begins with where you the client are standing in space, and how we can together begin to soften, and in many cases eliminate conditions that have been with you for very long periods of time, and also more recent shortenings.

Situations in the body that I frequently uncover often include, functionally short leg, rotations of pelvis, spine, and head and neck .

These conditions can result from traumatic injury, surgical interventions or inherited patterns.

If you are looking for a reduction in pain, and increasing your range of motion, consider booking an appointment today.

Remember, your body is wonderfully made.

I frequently hear the remark "wear and tear" as to causation of degeneration of Myofasciae and bone. This is ofcourse true, but only in part. Where reasonable balance of soft tissue( muscle, tendon and ligament) is replaced by standing tensional load on tissues including those surrounding joints, and even at rest, the 'stage is set'.
The only missing ingredient for "WEAR AND TEAR" to be received as a box office success, is that it run for the longest possible duration.

Shortenings and areas of the body which are held, (known as compensations) occur in soft tissue or Myofasciae.Myo is the prefix that refers to muscle, however it is the fascia of the body, that net like structure that encompasses all tissue including bone, that is responsible for the transference of strain (amongst many other functions)across and throughout the body.
If one imagines the familiar image of a fallen limb across a wire fence, the section of wire receiving the greatest strain, would fall proximally on either side of the fallen limb. However, the total effect of the wire's tension could be literally felt/ measured many tens of metres distal to the origin of the "trauma".
This image serves as a useful analogy to what takes place Myofascially in many different bodies, including those of human beings.
The causes of these originating traumas in the body leading to shortenings, and reduced ranges of motion are manifold, but include physical injury, surgical intervention, emotional tension and inherited patterns.
Structural Integration seeks to identify both objectively and subjectively with the client, these compensations of Myofasciae, and manually rebalance them according to what is functionally personally optimal.
