Some interesting statistics I have come across in my studies. Predominantly from the book Super Immunity by Dr Joel Fuhrman. Seriously summarised.
Studies have shown....
Cabbage (including Chinese cabbage, bok choy and turnips)
• 50% less breast cancer appeared in women with a high intake.
Mushrooms protect against breast cancer
• Decrease the risk of breast cancer by 64%
• Contain Antigen-binding Lectins: In layman’s terms when they come across abnormal cells they shout out so the body's defences know to act.
• Minimise the production of estrogen: Breast and ovarian cancers require estrogen to grow,
Cruciferous Vegetables
• 57% reduction in colon cancer when comparing high versus low consumption.
Tomatoes: Reduce prostate cancer, cooked tomatoes even more so.
• High intake has shown to reduce the chance of prostate cancer by up to 50%
• Lycopene (in tomatoes) reduces the risk of pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer and lung cancer.
Highest consumers of onions have
• 56% reduction of colon cancer
• 73% reduction of ovarian cancer
• 88% reduction of esophageal cancer
• 71% reduction of prostate cancer
• 50% reduction in stomach cancer
Natural Angiogenesis Inhibitors
Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels. Tumours need blood vessels to grow and spread.
• Mushrooms
• Onions Garlic
• Soy (GMO soy is very suspect)
• Cinnamon
• Berries
• Greens
There is a strong correlation between the consumption of animal products, the use of modern medicine, and cancer rates (particularly antibiotic use). I won’t bore you with the stats.
Stir fry for dinner? : )
