There is a beautiful altar in front of me & the Amazonian jungle is waiting and an Ancient temple calling me home.

I came to Peru for two reasons.
To journey inward alongside my beautiful teacher and friend in the Sacred Valley and then to meet with the Bora and Huitoto people on the Colombian & Brazilian border, who grow our Rosewood as part of a larger agroforestry initiative. I then head to the Ancient Temple of Chavin.

Three journeys. One direction. A path of deep listening.

Rosewood has always been one of my favourite oils. And for sometime, I could no longer use her due to her CRITICALLY ENDANGERED classification.

She is gentle. Not sharp or overpowering, just soft, steady support.

Her aroma is slightly floral, slightly woody, and quietly grounding. Traditionally rosewood has been used to support the nervous system and to create space for reflection and emotional steadiness.

It’s also a beautiful oil for the skin, valued for its gentle regenerative qualities and ability to support healthy, balanced skin.

There’s also a deeper story to this tree.

Rosewood once formed the structural heart of Amazonian *malocas* — ceremonial houses designed to reflect the structure of the cosmos. These were places for gathering, healing, and community.

I love that continuity.

A tree that once supported sacred spaces now supporting quiet inner spaces.

Not all medicine needs to be intense.

Sometimes it simply reminds us to soften.

"The process becomes part of the medicine.”

Not all essential oils are created the same way.

The method used to extract an oil shapes far more than the scent. It influences the chemistry of the extract, the plant compounds that remain present, and how the oil ultimately interacts with the body and skin.

Steam distillation, cold pressing, CO₂ extraction, solvent extraction for delicate flowers… each method reveals a different facet of the plant.

Some preserve bright, fresh top notes.

Others capture deeper aromatic molecules, waxes, fatty acids, or compounds that would otherwise be lost.

This is why extraction matters.

Because how a plant is extracted shapes the chemistry, aroma, and subtle qualities carried into the final oil.

Over time I’ll share more about these different extraction methods and what they reveal about the plants themselves.

When you understand how an oil is made, you begin to understand the oil itself.

Four years ago there were just a few hundred rosewood trees planted through this initiative.

Today there are more than 15,000 growing in the Amazon. That is EPIC!!!

They don’t just plant rosewood. They plant many local and endemic species alongside it, helping restore healthy, regenerative forest systems. What moves me most is where and how these trees are planted. Not in industrial plantations, but around the homes and lands of Indigenous families who have known these forests for millennia.

This is the work being done by the distillers we have chosen to partner with for our rosewood.

Communities planting trees.

Families caring for them.

The Amazon, our earths lungs, being reforested and regenerated.

A future where the forest and the people who belong to it both benefit.

This is also why our oils sit at a higher price point.

Rosewood is a medicine of the heart 💜

High in linalool, its chemistry gently supports the nervous system, helping soften stress and bring the body back toward emotional coherence. For generations, it has been held as heart and spirit medicine by the Shipibo people of the Amazon, used as the foundational posts for the maloca, the ceremonial centre of healing and community life.

This is also a plant that requires responsibility.

Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora) is a CITES-listed species, and any legitimate essential oil must be accompanied by certification that protects it from further exploitation.

Our Rosewood is sourced in partnership with Camino Verde, supporting reforestation, regenerative agroforestry, and non-destructive harvesting from leaves and branches only, allowing trees to regenerate rather than be destroyed.

Heart medicine deserves care.

We choose to honour that.

One of the biggest misconceptions in the essential oil world is that every brand sources from a unique, untouched place.

The reality is very different.

Essential oils are finite, and much of the global supply comes from the same regions, same harvests, and often the same bulk batches, simply repackaged under different brands.

Different labels.
Different stories.
Often the same oil.

Because supply chains are opaque, most people don’t realise what they’re buying may not be as unique as it seems.

I see this often, even oils presented at premium prices can be diluted, altered, or misrepresented.
This isn’t about fear.
It’s about awareness.
Because integrity in scent isn’t about how it looks,
it’s about traceability, testing, and true relationship with source. That’s the standard we choose to work by.
