Art Therapy is a unique form of self-expression. By creating your thoughts and feelings as symbols, shapes and colours you can “see” them. It allows you to detach and talk about what you see, often achieving insight and meaning faster than just talking. WHAT IF I CAN'T DRAW AND I'M NOT CREATIVE? Art Therapy is not an art course and the word “Art” is a bit misleading. Of all the clients that I see 99% tell me that they can’t draw and that they are not creative. Art Therapy is about expressing your unique creations with the purpose of gaining insight, meaning and self-awareness. It’s about the journey, not the end result and clients are often amazed with the results. There are also lots of other ways to express if you prefer not to draw. Some examples are movement, collage, construction, clay and sand tray. Holistic Counselling is also available, if you prefer a more traditional session. WHAT DO I NEED FOR AN ART THERAPY SESSION? All art materials are supplied by me for Face to face sessions. If you are having a phone or zoom session, you will need paper and basic art supplies, or you can use a digital program such as paint 3D. DOES ART THERAPY HELP CHILDREN? Children love expressing in any way they can. They often find it easier to communicate through this type of therapy. I see children over the age of eight.
