I was fortunate to spend my day with an incredible bunch of people, remembering the power of our stories. Stories shape us, connect us, and remind us of our value. In First Nations ways of knowing, storytelling is how we teach, learn, and transform together.

I had the absolute pleasure of training with Dr. Jenny Dwyer from the EMDR Academy! For me, this training is part of an ongoing commitment: to continual learning, keep expanding, and continue finding ways to offer culturally responsive, trauma-informed care.

✨ conflict is often a signal of difference ✨

The Gottman’s research shows that nearly 70% of the problems couples face in relationships are actually unsolvable. This means that a large portion of conflicts arise from fundamental differences—like personality traits, values, or life preferences.

What’s important to recognise is that these differences don’t mean your relationship is doomed or flawed - being in relationship is tricky! Humans are complex… It’s okay to disagree on some things, and work together to navigate conflict with respect and empathy.

The goal is not to “win” but to keep communication open and loving, which strengthens the relationship over time.

It's taken me a while to find my voice again after some HUGE life changes. But that's all part of this journey we're all on - life's messy, and I am happy to report that, yes, therapists are no different...

So hey, nara, hello - I am Liv.

I'm an ambient lighting fanatic, notorious houseplant overwaterer, coffee-obsessed, creative and overall cool-human who is passionate about authenticity, connection, and relationships.

I am proudly q***r, passionately blak (Badtjala), and dramatically enthusiastic about anti-colonial and anti-patriarchal ways of navigating the world.

One of my hats is as a therapist, a skilled listener with specialised knowledge in trauma recovery; I am also an academic who researches and writes into intersectional, and q***r spaces. I am a student to my PhD, and I also dabble in lecturing and sessional uni work.

Stories, wisdom, experiences, knowledge and connection drives me every day, and I hope to be a learner at something for the rest of my life!

I believe in a deeply human approach to therapy - life already tells us we need to 'have it all together and figured out'; education, training, and expertise all matter - but so does being real.

Brene coming in strong, as always!

Authenticity is the ultimate act of love, but we need to also recognise how difficult that can be in a world where so many of us feel unsafe in being who we are.

For some people, this concept feels radically unsafe when protections have meant survival. Authenticity can be a slow practice, developed over time, in safe spaces.

Your pace, is always the pace that leads in our work.

Trauma separates us from our sense of control, authority, and safety, which often makes navigating the world extremely difficult. Disempowerment is a common feeling, which is why therapists have a critical responsibility to address power in therapeutic dynamics and co-create conditions that facilitate reconnection with your self-authority, and agency.

You are the expert, and we're the skilled sidekicks walking alongside you.

It's giving, dream-team.

Let's talk decolonising healing!

Colonisation imposed individualistic values on many things (thanks capitalism..) approaches to healing were not immune to this.

But Blak & Indigenous healing practices remind us that well-being is found in our relationships—with each other, our ancestors, and Country.

It’s time to decolonise our healing practices and reclaim the power of community. Healing isn’t a solo journey—it’s something we do together.

Have you ever had those moments during a session where there is just pure silence between you and your therapist? Yep, me too...

Silence can be a really powerful tool. Sometimes, just holding the space alongside you and offering silence is what's needed for us to come into our truth, deepen our own understanding, feel into our bodies, or sit with emotion.

It's intense - but sometimes the loudest breakthroughs happen without a single word.
