My tribute to an amazing man, Dr Tom Wright. He has been a friend and colleague for over 30 years. I have been very fortunate to have an amazing man to support to ensure the safe arrival of babies both at Cairns Hospital and Cairns Private Hospital since 1990.
Not all had the outcome we would have desired but it was not due to our not trying. We have so many fond memories. I had the privilege of continuing the care of so many of those babies as they grew up. Our work is very family based and that is what makes it so rewarding.

This is my first post on this page. I don't get a lot of time for social media but I want to clarify a few rumours doing the rounds.

I HAVE NOT RETIRED.

My Flecker House rooms are as busy as ever and are open from 9 AM-5 PM working days. Phone number remains unchanged at 07 40 311133.

I continue to have credentialing and admitting rights to both Cairns Hospitals.

I have a weekly clinic at Cairns Hospital (CBH) with short turn around patients preferred. I am not doing ASD and behavioral assessments there as I do not generate medicare item numbers as a visiting Consultant Paediatrician to be able to refer on to private allied health agencies using Medicare supported services.

There are now 11 doctors on the acute Paediatric care roster so I am no longer doing after hours on call publically but continue on call for Cairns Private Hospital primarily for the women's unit and Early Parenting Centre.

Parents of children in my care who need hospital admission to Cairns Hospital (CBH) acutely should inform the hospital medical team of my involvement to ensure I can contribute to care by looking after the child privately or work with the team publically.
