A & B - Mum & Dad

Special birth this one, being the Dads aunt and witnessing his partner birth, was a special privilege.

Watching baby E take her first little scream was magic, put it into context because sometimes birth is over looked, I watched a whole human start their life! What a deadset blessing.

Rear facing on the toilet while Dad applies pressure to the back to help relieve pain is a great labouring position.

Switch those big lights off
Get an extension for that gas and air
Calm music playing in the background
Eyes closed
Controlled breathing

A doula doesn't replace the partner, we encourage, support, facilitate in the background so they can engage, encourage, and help Mum feel safe and secure.

The footy families find it hilarious my very loud intense mum voice for cheering converts to a quiet calming one for birth🤣 Jack of all trades 😋

Last night, I was blessed enough to meet with other like-minded birth workers.
From nutrition for fertility, birth education, lactation consultants, midwives, doulas, the list was long.

We're so fortunate in Macarthur to have so many incredible women support families through the most important time of their lives and having these connections allows us to ensure whoever we come across can be linked into even more support.

Yesterday, I donated my 3 monthly blood donations.
They asked at this donation, "Why do you donate?"

I couldn't help but cry.

Yesterday was my nephew Oliver's first birthday. 6 days later, he took his last precious breath.
6 days, thanks to donations, his mum and dad got to know him, love him, adore him, and make memories with him. 6 days was not nearly enough, but they got it because of blood & plasma donations.

I've always been a huge advocate for donating, I've never had a why, just a sense to do it in case I ever did have a why. It's devastating we have a why. Don't wait for a why.

Donate.

For anyone going through the devastation of life without your child, I'm so sorry, I've learnt there's no words to speak to ease the pain I can't possibly comprehend you feel. I promise to listen to you talk of them for hours if you ever need 🤍

Another lady were super passionate about is Talia.

We've been blessed to have worked together in a hospital setting on a few occasions, and like a bad smell ive not left her alone 🤣

She is now an endorsed home midwife 🥹 everyone wants that one on one care and her knowledge and passion is UNMATCHED ❤️‍🔥

11 years ago I witnessed my first birth (that wasn't my own 🤣) my sister welcomed me into her birth space. One state between us and a 5 month old baby I couldn't wait to be apart of such an incredible moment.

Little did I know not only did I get to witness my nephews birth I also got to witness my sister become a mum, and Dean become a dad. Only a few short years later would I realise truly what gift witnessing that moment was.

Dean lost his lift very suddenly leaving my sister a sole parent. The only other living human who can love him as much as she does, that's not to say I don't love him with my whole being, but a parents love, nothing compares.

Witnessing Dean become a dad was a gift, it's one of my favourite things witnessing the other parent watch the mother birth their child, it's magic.
I remember watching Dean watch JJ in absolute awe. It sends me 😭 I hold that memory so vividly

Happy birthday to our Max the most love boy there is, and thank you JJ and Dean for opening my eyes to everything incredible that is birthing 💛

Your baby can sleep, and it's still hard
Your baby can latch, and it's still hard
Your baby can burp easily, and it's still hard

Having a 'good baby' doesn't mean how your feeling isn't valid.

You can have a hard baby, and your mental health may be thriving. You can have an easy baby, and your mental health may be struggling.

They say, "You just need to find yourself again." naaaa, it's a whole new you, it's a new world for your baby, and YOU!
