💬 This week has been Australian Loneliness Awareness Week — and if your feed looked anything like ours, you probably saw people speaking more openly about loneliness and connection.

That’s a beautiful thing.

Because when we talk about loneliness, we help destigmatise it — and that’s how healing begins. It’s also core to our mission here at HUMANS:CONNECTING.

But awareness is just the start.

The real question is: What do we do next?

Usually, we take one of three paths:

1️⃣ We hope it just fades
2️⃣ We learn a lot, but stay in our heads
3️⃣ We get curious, sit with our loneliness, and let it guide us toward the real connection we need

Only one of those paths leads to meaningful, lasting change.

And that third one? That’s where the magic is. 💫

As this awareness week comes to a close, we invite you to take the next step.

🧡 Let the rest of the year be your Connection Action Days — a time to go after the relationships, support, and meaning you truly need.

Our Connection Starter Course can help you get started — by figuring out what connection means for you, and how to get more of it.

📌 We’re right here after you decide to get the connection you need.

🌍 The WHO has a plan to tackle loneliness.

It includes national policies, local action, better data and more investment in human connection.

But the real question is — will we act on it?

💡 We break down the recommendations in our latest blog.

The World Health Organization recently released a report recognising social connection as essential to health.

➡️ 870,000 people die every year from loneliness.

We break down what the report says and what it means for all of us.

Loneliness, like shame, thrives in secrecy and judgement.

We all know the pain behind the words.

Accepting that you experience loneliness is the first step to moving through it. The second is to speak your loneliness story.

Speak it to a human who has earned the right to hear it: a human who won’t judge, who won’t respond with pity, engage in competitive loneliness or leap to fix it. Someone who will simply listen and allow you to be.

Hearing stories of loneliness is a privilege. They are raw and deeply human.

It takes courage to both speak about our own loneliness. It takes equal courage to receive the loneliness stories of others, especially of those we love.

Be discerning in who’s earned the right to hear your loneliness story. It can feel like no one has, but our invitation to you is allow someone in your life to step in and care for you in the same way you care for them.

This piece is a reminder that your fragility is not something to hide. It’s something that makes you beautifully human — and more connected than you think.

Give yourself permission to be real.
