We’re making National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) planning fairer, more transparent, sustainable and person-centred.

Right now, we’re working to develop rules for how new framework planning will work. This will set out the process for creating NDIS plans.

We want to hear from NDIS participants and the disability community to make sure we get the rules right.

Male Support Worker Wanted – Ethiopian Language Speaker

Empowerment House Australia is seeking a male Support Worker who speaks an Ethiopian language (e.g. Amharic, Tigrinya, Oromo) to support a participant in line with personal, cultural, and communication preferences.

Location: Perth

Employment Type: Casual / Part-time (flexible hours)

Sector: NDIS Disability Support

About the Role
You will support a male participant with daily living and community participation. Due to the participant’s identified needs and preferences, a male support worker who speaks an Ethiopian language is required.

Essential Requirements

1. Male support worker (participant preference – NDIS compliant)
2. Ability to communicate in an Ethiopian language (Amharic / Tigrinya / Oromo)
3. NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
4. NDIS Worker Orientation Modules (Quality, Safety & You) – completed or willing to complete
5. Current National Police Clearance
6. Valid Australian Driver’s Licence
7. Comprehensive car insurance
8. First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
9. Australian work rights
10. Reliable, respectful, and culturally sensitive approach to support

Desirable
Experience supporting people with disability
Understanding of cultural and communication needs
Confidence supporting community access and daily activities
