This July, the Minds of Sydney team will be taking part in "Dry July". Dry July is a fundraiser that encourages people to go alcohol-free in July to raise funds for people affected by cancer. The funds raised through Dry July will provide invaluable services to cancer patients, their families and carers – whether it’s a lift to a life-saving appointment, guidance from a specialist nurse, connection to an informative voice, access to therapy programs or a bed close to treatment.

Having a month off alcohol also has great health benefits, such as sleeping better, having more energy, improved mental health and healthier skin. So we are not only helping others, but we are helping ourselves It's a win-win!

Head to https://www.dryjuly.com/ for more information on this great fundraiser.

Did you know that Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is the most common mental health disorder after depression.

Trauma can have a devastating effect on people’s lives. Any one of us can be affected and the psychological impacts can be deep and complex. They can affect any of us physically and emotionally, and the way we see ourselves, others, and the world around us.

Not everyone who experiences trauma will develop PTSD, but about 5-10% of Australians will suffer from PTSD at some point in their lives. That means that at any one time over 1 million Australians have PTSD.

Did you know setting goals is an effective way to increase motivation and to help you to create the changes you want.

It can be used to improve health and relationships, or improve productivity at work. Setting goals can also be an important step in the recovery from mental illness.
