I want to take a moment to acknowledge Emma Wilson, a Brisbane-based dance artist and therapist I’ve had the pleasure of mentoring.
Emma brings a rare combination of warmth, rigour, and deep listening to her work. Her background spans dance movement therapy, creative arts therapy, community dance, choreography, and performance — and what stands out most is how thoughtfully she weaves all of this into practice that is grounded, ethical, and genuinely responsive to the people she works with.
Watching Emma clarify her ideas, strengthen her professional voice, and refine how she offers her work into the world has been a joy. Mentoring doesn’t feel like teaching at someone — it’s more like walking alongside, asking questions, and making space for confidence to settle in. Emma does that beautifully in her own work, too.
If you’re in Brisbane and curious about community dance, creative therapy, or movement-based practice, I highly recommend exploring what Emma offers.
And for those of you working in movement, dance, yoga, or the creative arts who are feeling ready for some thoughtful professional mentoring — I always love these conversations. Or simply sign up for the short monthly newsletter where I discuss just one aspect of yoga and dance education. More About Emma
