Head to the rice fields of regional Bali for a week of peaceful Qigong practice amongst friends.
The Ubud region in Bali has been very inspiring to my personal practice.
In July we’ll be heading to a new venue – another beautiful Shala nestled amongst the rice fields.
It is a magical place, with salt water pool, tasty vegetarian food, an expansive practice space and comfy accommodation.
No experience necessary and all ages welcome.
This is an intensive opportunity to let go of habits that don’t serve, and begin your journey towards finding a creative and inspiring new way to live in harmony with those around us.
What will we be doing?
Each day we wake as the sun comes up…usually about 7am.
Our day begins in noble silence. Ideally no talking, gesturing (we keep gaze lowered) and obviously no technology / phones / computers etc.
We aim to give ourselves some space and time and distance so we can really hear and notice whatever unfolds in the environment around us.
The quieter you are…the more you hear.
At 7am we meet in the Shala for meditation in the ricefields…no rush.
At 7.30am we do our daily sunrise practice, focused on grounded movement and flexibility and drawing on the traditions of Qigong and Hatha yoga. Each day we will target different muscles and movements with lots of variety making sure the practice is inclusive and enjoyable even for those that don’t have any kind of regular practice.
Breakfast in noble silence from 8.30-9am and then restorative time until we meet back in the Shala at 11am.
Our morning practice will break our noble silence, and this session is focused on exploring practice ideas together with the group.
We may be discussing and exploring things like
· The 5 Daily remembrances of Tibetan buddhism
· The wisdom of the Tao Te Ching
· Acupressure points from traditional Chinese medicine
· Hogushi – Japanese self-massage
· Meditation practices from Pema Chodren, Ayya Khema
· Breathwork practices from Thich Nhat Hahn
At 12.30pm we will meet for a delicious lunch and get to know each other.
Our afternoons are free time for swimming, sauna, reading, massage, walking etc
At 5pm we meet up for our final daily session, focused on restorative practice.
· QIgong
· Tai chi push hands
· Partner Shiatsu
At 6.30pm our day concludes with a beautiful dinner and conversation as the sun goes down.
