Here's your friendly reminder that if you do this enough times... it can cause serious long term emotional damage.

It might not seem like a big deal, but let me tell you... the cPTSD this can cause is REAL.

Parents, if you have a kid who gets triggered by sensory inputs... please understand that sensory sensitivities are not a choice.

And if your autistic kiddo is able to articulate what's triggering them (which is a gift that not everyone is lucky enough to get)... realize that they need your help... not your invalidation.

Thank you for listening. ❤️

Gaslighting autistics looks like:

It's too bright!
No it's not.

It's too loud!
No it's not.

It tastes yucky!
No it doesn't.

I'm scared!
Don't be silly.

I hate going there!
No you don't.

I'm sorry!
No you aren't.

So… drumroll… Yes, she has reversed her self-imposed autism education + advocacy retirement (bahaha) and is BACK with a new program. (Isn’t she so fickle?)

Actually, the way I like to think of it is: she moves with the wind and the seasons and the year of the snake and Venus in Pisces and so HOW COULD SHE NOT create a new Autism related program after she proclaimed she would never in fact do this again.

On that note

***Autism: Dispelling the Myths + Understanding the Culture, the 28 day program is now live and ready for your registration***

This online program is an extension of a seminar I created last year and one I’m super proud of, with completely different content to Brains= Behaviour, or any other product I’ve created, and with a large focus on the historical context of autism and how that impacts us to this very day.

🫶🏼If you’re seeking knowledge around autism but don’t yet understand it’s history – this program is for you.

🤘🏼If your information primarily comes from mainstream or medical model sources – this is for you.

👊🏼If you’re using terms like ‘neurodivergent, neuro-affirming, neurodiverse’ etc – this is for you (because, nothing personal, but SO MANY people are using these terms incorrectly.

🙌🏼If you’re looking for a psych/paed/service provider etc in your life and see words like ‘neurodivergent, neuro-affirming, neurodiverse’ etc on their website this is ESPECIALLY for you (because you need to know if these providers are using the terms correctly or just trying to sound good).

👏🏼If anyone in your life is still saying things like ‘disorder, developmental delay or “they need to build resilience” this is for you AND THEM!!! (eek)

🤞🏼If you long to embed autistic culture in your home, classroom, workplace or community as a way of making life safer for all of us (not just the autistic people) but aren’t exactly sure what that means or how to go about it? Please know, this is for you.

We begin on May 5th – and together we will make ripples in the world ###

BORING DEETS BELOW👇🏼
This 28 program is made up for 4 weeks worth of video content (about an hour of content of each week) which will go live every Monday from May 5th – 26th, and 4 live QandA’s which will take place each Thursday during this time.

All content will be recorded and made available permanently so there will be no rush to finish or keep up, and certificates of completion will be available for those who need them.

And finally I made this 28 day program the cheapest possible price I could fathom for the value it contains – because I really, really want this to be accessible to every single one of you, regardless of funding pull backs or funding cancelations and regardless of personal situations. Please contact us by email if the price is a road black to your participation.

This may be the only time I run this program (who knows?!?!) and if that be the case, let this be the time I support you to get this information into your life and out there into the world. ###xx

As always, Reframing Autism will not be taking part in Autism Awareness or Autism Acceptance Month in 2025. We will be posting our usual content - which centres the voices and experiences of Autistic people.

For many of our neurokin, April can be a difficult and exhausting time. Autistic voices are too often overshadowed by non-Autistic individuals and organisations, whose well-meaning but misguided efforts to spread "awareness" can sometimes do more harm than good. Meanwhile, what truly matters—authentic acceptance, respect, meaningful support, and genuine inclusion—continues to be overlooked.

To those dedicating this month to uplifting Autistic voices, we wish you an empowering and impactful April. The best way to support the Autistic people in your life is through education—learning directly from Autistic individuals and neuro-affirming sources. You can explore ways to be an excellent Autistic ally here: https://reframingautism.org.au/service/i-am-an-ally/

For families and school communities marking the occasion, we encourage you to skip the blue and instead go red instead, light it up gold, tone it down taupe or rejoice with rainbows! And please, no puzzle pieces.

We deeply appreciate our incredible community and your continued support.

[ID: Against a burgundy background, with the Reframing Autism logo in the top centre and the colourful knotwork in the bottom right corner, white text reads, 'Autistic individuals deserve to exist in a world that values us and preserves our right to dignity, autonomy and respect'. Beneath the text, there is an image of five pairs of hands, each holding soil and a seedling.]
