A wise buddhist saying is “If you want to find a fish, look in the ocean. If you want to find yourself, look in your mind”. 🐟🧠
When they speak of the mind there are 2 types of mind. Our ordinary relative mind, and our absolute pure mind, our spiritual essence.
In our meditation practice our work is to develop a stronger and more skillful ability to stabilise the ordinary mind, to get used to being able to rest and remain in that stability, and progressively we then have a platform, a place within to catch glimpses of the pure mind, the true essence of ourselves, our spiritual nature. This does not happen immediately, as anyone who is practicing meditation knows, it a gentle progressive movement forward, holding no expectations, just the trust in the process and the willingness to do the work necessary.
When you least expect it, a profoundly ordinary experience that leaves no doubt will occur as you glimpse that pure state. It is worth every mindful moment you spend to arrive at that. It is unforgettable, and profoundly alters you, and yet it is quite a simple and ordinary moment. You have come home. It is an enlightened glimpse.
