Coolangatta Surf Life Saving Club is incredibly proud to announce that Life Member Michael “Coinsy” Mahon was recently recognised by Surf Life Saving Queensland, with the new State Operations & Communications Centre room named in his honour.

Joining Coolangatta Surf Life Saving Club in 1974, Coinsy has dedicated more than 50 years to operational lifesaving — from patrols on our beaches to radio operations, command, coordination, and mentoring generations of volunteers. His foundational role in SurfCom and communications helped shape the way lifesaving operates today.

This recognition reflects a lifetime of service, reliability, and quiet leadership. We couldn’t be prouder to see Coinsy’s legacy honoured in this way.

Remembrance Day | Lest We Forget ❤️

Today, we pause in remembrance of the brave men and women who have served our nation.

They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

As the waves break along our coast, we are reminded of the steady courage and sacrifice of those who came before us. Their legacy, like the ocean, endures — shaping our lives and protecting the freedoms we hold dear.

We honour their service with gratitude, reflection, and respect.
