πŸ‘• Wear light, loose-fitting clothing

πŸŽ‰ FAST FACTS FRIDAY – NEW YEAR EDITION πŸŽ‰

✨ Welcoming 2026 ✨

πŸ•› 1. Your body clock feels it
Late nights and sleep-ins can throw off your circadian rhythm, affecting mood, energy and focus.

πŸ₯— 2. β€œNew Year diets” often fail
Sustainable habits beat extreme resolutions. Small changes = long-term results.

πŸ’§ 3. Dehydration is common
Hot weather, celebrations and alcohol increase dehydration – headaches and fatigue are common this time of year.

❀️ 4. January is a great reset month
Perfect time to review:
βœ” Blood pressure
βœ” Cholesterol
βœ” Weight & lifestyle goals

🧠 5. Mental health matters too
Post-holiday blues are real. Support is available – you don’t have to push through alone.

πŸ“… 6. Health checks = best resolution
Preventive care now can avoid bigger problems later in the year.

🌑️ Fast Facts Friday – Christmas Edition πŸŽ„

We are currently in the middle of a heatwave, so it’s important to take extra care.

β˜€οΈ Heat illness can sneak up quickly - early signs include dizziness, headache, nausea and fatigue. Rest, hydrate and cool down early - don’t push through.

πŸ’§ Dehydration happens faster in hot weather. You may need more fluids than usual. Drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Limit alcohol and sugary drinks.

πŸ’Š Some medications are affected by heat. Insulin, puffers and EpiPens can lose effectiveness if overheated. Keep medications cool and never leave them in cars.

πŸš— Hot cars are deadly. Children and pets can overheat rapidly - even on mild days. Never leave anyone unattended in a parked car.

🚩 Know when to seek medical help. Confusion, fainting, severe headache or vomiting need urgent medical care - especially during a heatwave.

Please take extra care during this hot spell and check in on vulnerable family, friends and neighbours.

Our thoughts are with the families and community impacted by the recent tragedy at Bondi.

If you are able, donating blood is a meaningful way to support others in times of need.
Australian Red Cross Lifeblood

Following the tragic incident at Bondi Beach, Lifeblood has issued urgent calls for O negative blood across NSW. Fewer than 7% of Australians have this blood type, and it’s critical in emergencies when a patient’s blood type is unknown.

To donate blood or plasma, visit www.lifeblood.com.au/donor-centre, call 13 14 95 or download the free Lifeblood app.

πŸŽ„ Fast Facts Friday – Christmas Edition πŸŽ„

1️⃣ Heat exhaustion can sneak up quickly β˜€οΈ
Early signs include dizziness, headache, nausea and fatigue. Rest, hydrate and cool down early β€” don’t push through.

2️⃣ Holiday routines disrupt medications πŸ’Š
Travelling, late nights and alcohol can cause missed doses. Set phone reminders and pack medications in carry-on bags.

3️⃣ Insect bites are more than just itchy 🦟
Mosquitoes and ticks can cause infections. Use repellent, cover exposed skin and see your GP if redness or fever develops.

4️⃣ Sunburn is skin damage β€” not a tan 🌞
Just one severe sunburn increases long-term skin cancer risk. Reapply SPF every 2 hours, especially around water.

5️⃣ Don’t ignore ongoing pain or fatigue 🚩
If symptoms last more than a few days, it’s worth checking in β€” especially before we close for the public holidays.

If something doesn’t feel right, book an appointment with your GP before the Christmas rush.

πŸ’™ Fast Facts Friday – Christmas Edition πŸŽ„

The festive season is busy but your health still matters.

Here are 5 quick facts to keep you well this Christmas:

1. πŸŽ„ Stress levels peak in December
Even 10 minutes of downtime can lower cortisol and improve mood.

2. πŸ’§ Hydration drops in hot weather
Most adults need around 2–3L a day more when travelling or active.

3. ❀️ Heart health risks increase over the holidays
Rich food + heat + stress can trigger symptoms. Don’t ignore chest pain.

4. 🦠 Summer viruses are still circulating
Gastro, flu and respiratory viruses remain common this time of year.

5. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Small habits make a big difference
A walk after lunch, sunscreen, good sleep and balanced meals all help.

If something doesn’t feel right, book an appointment with your Doctor before the Christmas rush.
