Been super busy lately, but I wanted to share one of the most satisfying real-life first aid moments I’ve had while teaching.
Recently, we held a private first-aid class for two students from Spanish-speaking backgrounds. During the session, one of the students suddenly experienced an asthma attack. She had her reliever with her, but had never been shown how to use a spacer properly.
She was taking puff after puff with every breath, and it was clear things were becoming serious. I quickly stepped in, explained how to use the spacer correctly, and the improvement was immediate. She was so relieved and so grateful because no one had ever taught her that before.
We were very close to needing to call an ambulance.
Moments like this are a powerful reminder that first aid training is not just about getting a certificate. It is about building real skills, real confidence, and being ready to help when it truly matters.
At Gungahlia First Aid, we believe practical, hands-on learning can make all the difference.
