So one month post lockdown and while my weight loss has plateaued over the last couple of weeks I’m happy with my body fat percentage and muscle mass percentage shifts! Having being consuming 1000 cal a day of purely protein (mostly!) let’s start introducing carbs and see what happens next? For the last few weeks the workouts have been a proper slog but nothing worth having ever comes easy, right? @ Crossfit Craigieburn

Been very quiet on here of late, so apologise for that.

Lately the CovidFat has been winning the fight against the CrossFit unfortunately.

Living in Victoria we had restrictions lifted about five weeks ago which lasted for all of ten days. For the last three weeks we’ve been in stage 3 lockdowns and now we are entering 6 weeks of stage 4 lockdowns. So while the rest of our country is making strides towards being covid free/covid tolerant it seems we are stuck for the foreseeable future with it.

-

Our ‘box’ isn’t just a gym. It’s a sanctuary for us to escape the rest of lives little problems. I have missed it tremendously and not having it available is soul destroying. There’s a side of this whole pandemic we are yet to see and that is the aftermath. Being in isolation I find it impossible to get motivated to workout at home and that is feeding the CovidFat side of this equation. However, one thing I’m certain about is that the minute the box is open again, I’ll be there with bells on.

-

Hopefully some inspiration will kick in soon to get my ass moving again. Until then I’m gonna keep on hoping for that box to be finally open again! And when it does, it will be like Xmas!

Day 1 of the box reopening and there’s only one word to describe it. Humbling!

-

After three months of little to no exercise it’s safe to say that the title of my page is very apt. Tonight was by all means an ‘easy’ workout to break us all back in but the reality is that I struggled heaps! I’m well aware it’s a start of a journey but even still, I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed in myself for having done nothing for the duration of lockdown other than sip beers and surf s**t online! It’s biting me now, let me tell ya!

-

As a high performance gymnastics coach we have a saying for our elite athletes that a week off doing nothing will set you back a month in your preparations. Now I’m not claiming to be elite at anything but using the basic math says that three months of doing jack s**t is gonna plonk my fitness levels back in the realm of ‘couch potato/non existent’!

-

As I said, it’s the first of many steps and with the help and support of all the gang at CrossFit Craigieburn I know I can only improve.

CrossFit is dead, long live CrossFit!

-

The last week I’ve been a bit inactive on social media as I’ve been nursing a few injuries etc. but that’s another post.

-

For now there are more pressing matters in the world and the (ex) CEO of CrossFit just tarnished the entire reputation of the CrossFit community in one stupid tweet!

-

CrossFit is not one person, sure one guy (and with the help of others) may have started the whole thing but as with all things, every journey starts with a single step. Those steps have brought us so far, with millions of members across the world and tens of thousands of gyms endorsing the brand we all love. As I said, it’s a community.

-

These communities around the world were already in a tough spot with the global pandemic forcing closures etc. Our community has always been there with the lockdowns, but actually getting back to the box and seeing and training with others is going to cement that sense even more. So show your support for your local box by lending a hand, paying your dues, or even just messaging an owner to check in with them. It all counts towards keeping our communities alive.

-

If the ‘Glass Man’ believed in what he says when he says he’s sorry etc he’ll do the right thing and step aside and disassociate himself from the company.

-

In most of our lives we’re only as good as our last screw up. If I was to do anything that classed as gross misconduct I’d be sacked immediately with no financial recompense. You can bet your ass that the Glass man isn’t not being financially looked after even though he has ‘Retired’!

-

And I bet that will be the biggest key to whether people and affiliates disassociate or not.

-

The rebrand needs to start from the top down and I although extremely disappointed with how this has all came about hope that we all as a community bounce back to show the world how awesome this sport is.
