Acne and breakouts may occur due to increased cortisol levels, while brain fog and mood swings can result from disrupted cortisol and adrenaline balance. Irregular periods may be linked to hormonal imbalances caused by stress, and hair loss may be exacerbated due to elevated cortisol. Zinc is a vital mineral crucial for various bodily functions. It plays a key role in immune support😷, wound healing💪🏽, and enzyme activity. Oysters 🦪, chickpeas, and pumpkin seeds are excellent dietary sources.
Cool Fact!! 👀
Zinc is sometimes referred to as the “gatekeeper” of the immune system. It helps regulate the immune response and supports the body’s defense mechanisms against infections.
Recommended Daily Intake of Zinc:
Infants (7 months to 12 months): 3 mg
Children (1 to 3 years): 3 mg
Children (4 to 8 years): 5 mg
Children (9 to 13 years): 8 mg
Adolescents (14 to 18 years): Boys - 11 mg, Girls - 9 mg
Adults (19 years and older): Men - 11 mg, Women - 8 mg
Pregnant women: 11 mg
Breastfeeding women: 12 mg
(Reminder, these are just an average daily intake that an individual should take however, everyone is different 🙂
Oysters: 85-gram serving of cooked oysters can provide around 74 milligrams of zinc. (4-6 oysters)
Beef: A 85-gram serving of beef can contribute about 7 milligrams of zinc - one hand size steak
Chickpeas: One cup of cooked chickpeas (about 164 grams) contains around 2.5 milligrams of zinc.
Pumpkin Seeds: About 28 grams of roasted pumpkin seeds can offer approximately 2.2 milligrams of zinc.
Cashews: about 28 grams contains around 1.6 milligrams of zinc.
Chicken: A 85-gram serving of chicken provides about 2.5 milligrams of zinc.
Dairy Products: Dairy foods vary, but a cup of yogurt (about 245 grams) may contain around 1.5 milligrams of zinc.
