Research has shown that around 80% of New Year's resolutions fail by the beginning of February😐

This is why we encourage all our clients and participants alike to set New Year’s Goals and NOT New Year’s resolutions! Goals are more specific and actionable, which makes them far more effective!

Here are our top 3 tips on how you can set goals for the new year ahead!

1️⃣ Opposed to setting large and ambiguous goals, try to choose more specific goals. This will make it easier for you to plan exactly how (and when) you’re going to achieve them.

2️⃣ Break your goals down into actionable steps you can achieve along the way. Each time you tick off a step towards achieving your goals, celebrate in a way that you enjoy. Goals are hard work, and you deserve to treat yourself as you work towards them!

3️⃣ If you encounter setbacks along the way, don’t view them as failures. Instead, try to look at them as an opportunity to learn and get back on track. Be patient with yourself. New habits aren’t formed overnight!

Here at Alt-fit, we're firm believers that our bodies do need rest and recovery, especially after a busy festive season. However, when returning to our exercise routines, we must ease ourselves back in after being inactive for some time.

So, here are our top 3 tips to support you in safely returning to exercise after the holidays!

1️⃣ Stretch! Aim for at least 10 minutes, 3 times a week as you ease back into exercise. Ensure your Alt-fit Trainer shows you the best stretches to loosen your tight muscles after taking a hiatus from your exercise routine.

2️⃣ Taking gradual steps to increase the frequency, intensity, and duration of your exercise will allow for an increase in performance and injury-free sessions.

3️⃣ Allow your body to recover after each session to avoid exercise fatigue and sore muscles. This includes getting at least 8 hours of sleep, staying hydrated and eating a balanced diet.
