This Anzac Day, we honour and remember all who have served, and those who continue to carry that service with them every day.

At Vitality Health and Rehab, we are especially proud to support our DVA clients—veterans and their families—whose strength, resilience, and sacrifice inspire us daily. It is a privilege to be part of your ongoing care and wellbeing.

Lest we forget. 🌺

Balance is one of the important areas we focus on in our open gym sessions — because better balance = lower fall risk and fewer injuries. 🙌
Here are 4 key ways to improve both static and dynamic balance:
🧍 Static Holds
Holding a position with control builds the foundation for stability, posture, and fall prevention.
🚶 Dynamic Movement
Staying stable while moving helps with walking, turning, and reacting to your environment — essential for everyday confidence.
⚖️ Unstable Surface Training
Using surfaces like foam pads challenges your proprioception and joint stability (always keep it safe and progressive).
🧠 Dual Task Training
Practicing balance while thinking, talking, or carrying something mimics real life and improves coordination.

Matwork Pilates vs Reformer Pilates — What’s the difference?

Matwork Pilates is the original form of Pilates, using just your body weight and a mat to build core strength, stability and control. Because there’s no equipment assisting you, it’s great for developing strong foundations and body awareness.
Reformer Pilates uses a specialised machine with springs and straps to provide adjustable resistance and support.

✨ Matwork: bodyweight, mat-based, strong core focus
✨ Reformer: spring resistance, equipment-based

So which is best?

There isn’t one that’s better — it depends on your goals. Matwork builds strong movement foundations, while reformer can add resistance or assistance. Both are effective and often complement each other really well.

Osteoporosis doesn’t mean avoid exercise. It means train with purpose. 💪🦴

Strong muscles help protect fragile bones.

The goal isn’t high intensity — it’s controlled, consistent strength and weight-bearing work.

🔥 Strengthen Your Posterior Chain

Your posterior chain — glutes, hamstrings, calves & back — is your body’s powerhouse.

In a world of sitting and screen time, these muscles often switch off… leading to tight hips, lower back discomfort and poor posture.

Strong back body = better posture, better performance, better resilience.
